????????

I had a glance through the AFL injury lists before typing this. Our list is short compared to a lot of other clubs.

Where it’s sucked for us is that they’re targeting our forwards.

Edit: so I guess not so lucky then. I’ll get my coat.

Poor milkshake, so sorry this has happened. He’s held our forward line together this season

Shame you can’t report players who cause injuries. The Sydney player clearly pushes him off play that caused the ACL - dog act.

CANNOT believe this has happened to Melksy. My heart breaks for him. Again he’ll miss out.  💔 😢 👎🏽

Absolutely devastating if confirmed that both Jake Melksham and Luke Dunstan have done their ACLs.

Particularly disappointing for Jake Melksham after having such a wonderful 2nd half of the year.

Fingers crossed it isn't that serious. But it looks grim. 😔

Terrible for Jake.

The action reminded me of when Lever did his all those years ago.

Such a Cruel game at times.
Win the Cup for Melky and Little Charlie (RIP) Demons

Bailey Laurie, time to step up in September

Absolutely devastating to be honest. I've admired him this year purely of how hard he's worked and the influence he's had on our forward line.

Footy is bloody cruel because he deserves to finish his career on a high note and that would be by winning a flag.

I'd offer him a one year deal imo.

Hope he is back, missed the 1st flag,  would be terrible if it happened again when he has been so influential

Always an unlucky player who misses finals, we had Jones in 2021. Yet another argument for grand final winner’s recognition to be extended to the greater team and not just the 22/23 of the day

No coincidence the forward line started to function the moment he returned

Absolutely devastating. Give him a contract extension tomorrow - he absolutely deserves it.

Ricciardo,  then this.

There’s been a bit of bad news this weekend.

I can’t see him coming back if it’s an ACL. I reckon that’s career done. Hope I’m wrong.

I agree with your sentiments Dazzle, really terrible if it's an ACL. However, a one year deal wouldn't see him back possibly until this stage next year, by which time he'd need time to build up game fitness and form

Unfortunately, I think his career with us may be over. Happy to be wrong, though

In the mean time, I hope his positive outlook despite this injury will further inspire his team mates to go all the way, 'do it for Jake'

I was surprised he got another contract this year but he has been very good.

The thing about Melksham is the way he plays hasn’t really changed much in the past few years, so if he does come back I don’t see a huge drop off because of his age.

Let's say by some miracle that it's not an ACL...I'm wondering what injuries are mistaken for ACLs, and if any of them have him in frame to return in time? I know it's wishful thinking but just trying to get an idea if he has any chance of being okay.

Sad end of true, I’ve been a very harsh critic of him over the years and was surprised he was still on the list but he’d made me eat my words the last 8 weeks

Goodwin sounds devastated about Melksham. It definitely sounds like it’s an ACL. Rubbish. Just rubbish.

Gutted for him. After missing out on playing in a flag in 2021, he’s busted his [censored] to get back in the team and have an impact. Really impressive how he’s held out forward line together at this stage of his career and without him we wouldn’t have finished top four. He’s been a match winner.

If it is an ACL, then that’s a sad and unfair way to end of his career. Fingers crossed it’s just a tweak and he gets a chance to play finals.

My understanding is the tests that the club doc does at the time almost always confirm if it's an ACL. Scans determine the extent.

@Webber will be better placed to expand on this

Yeah spot on, I thought the same thing. So there's no hope! I'm absolutely gutted for him. If by some miracle we win the flag, it'll be his too. He was such a massive part of our run into finals.

I guess everyone initially thought Gawn did his ACL in Round 2. The scenes were horrific. Most of us were resigned to this. Hopefully the same outcome here with Melk.

His test was inconclusive. Sounds like Melksham’s wasn’t. But let’s hope they’re wrong!

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
