Our list is short compared to a lot of other clubs. Where it’s sucked for us is that they’re targeting our forwards. Edit: so I guess not so lucky then. I’ll get my coat. KLV 1,768 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Poor milkshake, so sorry this has happened. He’s held our forward line together this season 6 Quote

OhMyDees 1,834 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Shame you can’t report players who cause injuries. The Sydney player clearly pushes him off play that caused the ACL - dog act. 1 1 Quote
Guest Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 CANNOT believe this has happened to Melksy. My heart breaks for him. Again he’ll miss out. 💔 😢 👎🏽 Quote
Supreme_Demon 4,141 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Absolutely devastating if confirmed that both Jake Melksham and Luke Dunstan have done their ACLs. Particularly disappointing for Jake Melksham after having such a wonderful 2nd half of the year. Fingers crossed it isn't that serious. But it looks grim. 😔 Quote
McQueen 17,867 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Terrible for Jake. The action reminded me of when Lever did his all those years ago. 1 Quote
Sir Why You Little 37,457 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Such a Cruel game at times. Win the Cup for Melky and Little Charlie (RIP) Demons Bailey Laurie, time to step up in September 2 1 Quote
Boots and all 1,000 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 I wish we could have an announcement already. I feel gutted, I can't imagine how Melk and the rest of the team are feeling. Quote

I've admired him this year purely of how hard he's worked and the influence he's had on our forward line. Footy is bloody cruel because he deserves to finish his career on a high note and that would be by winning a flag. I'd offer him a one year deal imo. Hope he is back, missed the 1st flag, would be terrible if it happened again when he has been so influential Quote
Garbo 1,567 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Always an unlucky player who misses finals, we had Jones in 2021. Yet another argument for grand final winner’s recognition to be extended to the greater team and not just the 22/23 of the day 4 1 Quote

Ron Burgundy 8,588 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Absolutely devastating. Give him a contract extension tomorrow - he absolutely deserves it. Ricciardo, then this. There’s been a bit of bad news this weekend. Quote

I agree with your sentiments Dazzle, really terrible if it's an ACL. However, a one year deal wouldn't see him back possibly until this stage next year, by which time he'd need time to build up game fitness and form Unfortunately, I think his career with us may be over. Happy to be wrong, though In the mean time, I hope his positive outlook despite this injury will further inspire his team mates to go all the way, 'do it for Jake' Quote

The thing about Melksham is the way he plays hasn’t really changed much in the past few years, so if he does come back I don’t see a huge drop off because of his age. Quote
pilgrim 122 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 (edited) Let's say by some miracle that it's not an ACL...I'm wondering what injuries are mistaken for ACLs, and if any of them have him in frame to return in time? I know it's wishful thinking but just trying to get an idea if he has any chance of being okay. Edited August 27, 2023 by pilgrim Quote
sisso 2,627 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Sad end of true, I’ve been a very harsh critic of him over the years and was surprised he was still on the list but he’d made me eat my words the last 8 weeks Quote
Jaded No More 68,976 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Goodwin sounds devastated about Melksham. It definitely sounds like it’s an ACL. Rubbish. Just rubbish. 2 Quote
Lord Travis 10,819 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Gutted for him. After missing out on playing in a flag in 2021, he’s busted his [censored] to get back in the team and have an impact. Really impressive how he’s held out forward line together at this stage of his career and without him we wouldn’t have finished top four. He’s been a match winner. If it is an ACL, then that’s a sad and unfair way to end of his career. Fingers crossed it’s just a tweak and he gets a chance to play finals. 5 Quote

Scans determine the extent. @Webber will be better placed to expand on this 2 Quote

If by some miracle we win the flag, it'll be his too. He was such a massive part of our run into finals. Quote
Great Northern Summer 708 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 I guess everyone initially thought Gawn did his ACL in Round 2. The scenes were horrific. Most of us were resigned to this. Hopefully the same outcome here with Melk. 3 Quote
