This is first class analysis of the four finals games.

Some of the best analysis I've heard - clear, makes sense and well articulated.

Davis is very impressive.

He does the dees game first.

Wow! What a refreshing listen.

Looking forward to hearing a lot more from Phil.

Mcrae said he'd be sub.

But formal announcement is an hour before game.

Did Goody say anything about ours, and if not is Tomlinson a chance subject to weather??

I still remember Tommo’s game Kings Birthday & he was nearly BOG. I hope Goody doesn’t leave us too short against that big dud Cox when he floats on down forward.

Tomlinson must be kicking the cat right now

poor bloke

i can’t believe he wasn’t selected

Why is everyone forgetting Smith? We now have McDonald as a genuine tall. If we are looking short down back, they will flip Smith back. What fantastic flexibility we have with Smith.

Prefer we play Tommo, and sub Smith

Assume that's possible given the selection of Smith on bench??

T Mac or Smith will play back IMO.

The last time we went small in defence with the May/Lever/Hibberd combo was the Freo loss. We rectified this by bringing in Tomlinson the next week against Carlton in order to have a recognised third key defender. And the results have seen us with a 10-3 record with either Petty, Tomlinson or Turner as the key third defender.

I have no clue why we’ve abandoned this proven formula other than they’re  playing Smith down back tomorrow.

We don’t need JVR, McDonald, Fritsch and Smith forward. Especially if Trac plays forward too. I really think Smith will play back.

No he didn't.

I can't see tomo being a sub.

It will be Laurie or jordon

Pies have gone tall we have gone small, geez the pies will want to mark everything or could be trouble

No it's not.

The sub has to come from the emergencies.

And no way tomo is sub.

Who are their 4 tall forwards ? McStay …yes ..Cox as a resting ruckman ..Miochec  same height as Hibberd & Rivers & if Howe plays forward on Lever well good luck to him …his form has been very average . Who else am I missing ?

Mihocek is 192. Rivers 188, Hibberd 186. I would say Mihocek definitely has the height advantage.

1. Cox 211/ Cameron 204

2. Mihocek 192

3. McStay 196

4. Howe 190 - although he may be shifted back

And can't forget the aerial prowess of Jamie Elliott.

Fortunately the weather might restrict their height advantage, although wet weather hasn't been our friend either

Interesting The Age is reporting now Ginnivan is sub.

Is it too late to bring back Dom Tyson?

I think it's flexible with Smith to go back or forward as needed.

Has played two games and his last one did not instill any confidence. GLAD he is out!

Yep. It's a huge call for him not just on form but the magnitude of the game

Probably two good ins when it comes to experience.
Im just so keen to watch Trac and Viney.
Finals Trac and finals Viney are just built different!

i’m feeling a lot worse after the teams have come out

I can visualise Cox marking inside 50 with Rivers / Hibbo flapping away at his shoulders. and it’s making me sick

Against two rucks and two key forwards you have to play two key backs plus Lever.

Having said that, Goody and the SC can’t be accused of not having balls

What about picturing Elliot leading Tomlinson 3 metres behind with a look of defeat on his face? Glad that's not going to happen.

Pies are rattled.

Yep, Tommo no sub

Probably Laurie for speed then? JJ a bit similar to most of the mids

Very cryptic or perverse. 😂

Took me a good 40 seconds to work it out.

I'm just here for the @dazzledavey36 Hibberd mea culpa 🤣

Actually don't have issue with Hibberd returning to be honest.

Being of an expense of a tall forward is my biggest issue though. We've gone from a system that has completely worked to the most where all purely numbers back to what they were in 2021 to now potentially throwing that put of wack.

Thought he was decent after some early jitters.

Hibbo is the right choice but I don't think we've seen the last of the third tall should we get through.

Surely Hibbo has been picked for Elliot or Hill, with other for McVee

The Tommo/Hibberd call I'm sure has a lot to do with the bleak weather conditions.

It's going to be a tough contested scrap with most of the game probably being played below the knees. That suits Hibberd more.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
