Sloppy first half but Hawks pressure was high.

Happy to secure the second chance. 😮‍💨

Satisfying win. Hawthorn have improved heaps on their early season form, and that was a legitimate arm wrestle for three quarters.

I only got to see the last half due to other commitments, but the game went fairly much to script I would have thought. The Hawks are no easy beats, and they took it right up to us.

Our stoppage and clearnace work looked a but shaky (this is an opinion, I haven't looked at the stats)

Lever, Melksham, Rivers and Viney looked like standouts.

I think all but one of Bowey's disposals were turnovers or goals - he is a bit of a worry.

Our ability to defend from anywhere on the ground is a thing of beauty. Brayshaw, Hunter, ANB getting back to help out time and time again keeps us in every game we play.

JVR - chills.

Top 4, and looking as strong or better than the other 3.

Why was trac handballing, does he have a sore foot?

Oliver looked like someone who hasn't played alot of footy this year. Laurie showed enough. Tmac needs to return. Kozzie looks disinterested, needs a week at Casey to wake him up. Viney is a beast... McVee looks good, Rivers is a potential captain.  Hope Fritch is ready for finals. Van rooyen = a long year for a debut season.

A one dimensional team this is not.

Sit on Oliver and keep Trac quiet, we can still beat you.

Viney and Brayshaw have been very good

Jake Lever marked everything that came his way

For some bizarre reason he double punched one right in front of the interchange bench. Otherwise he would have gobbled that up too.

He just really had his eye in today. Like a radar

I’m just glad we got the win and no injuries. Hawks were always going to be hard to beat. Double chance secured so let’s go to Sydney and play with a little more freedom and fluency.

anb was excellent. Lever Gus jvr Viney also impressive.

looking forward to finals.

Kozzie is never playing at Casey.

Port will know at h/f break that Melbourne won. Be interesting to see how they perform in 2nd half.

They want to finish 3rd????. and play at the Gabba.   BS

I dont . Ive said all along lock in 4th.

If by some miracle Essendone win we'll know beforehand and then rethink the Buddy Circus.

Pies will finish 1 and we'll be waiting.

Apologies to Jake Bowey but he made some rank mistakes the last 2 weeks. Needs to be better than that. Schache a strange sub.

To me it looks like Bowey has been told to be more offensive? I reckon McVee is still the more defensive HB, with both of Salem and Bowey trying to hurt the opposition with their ball use, however it hasn't worked as of late.

So he is a worry for giving up a goal...every player makes mistakes.

Terrific win but the second chance is a priority asset as you mention. We will need it - just for injuries, most likely; perhaps, a drop in form over a gruelling finals season might cause a hiccup, regretfully. Good call, McQueen.

Credit to the club and players for securing top four for the 3rd successive season. Something completely unprecedented in my time following the Demons, and something to be very grateful for. I actually felt we were getting a bit shaky for finals before the last win streak so top four is a massive result.

Do they have it in them to find a way to 3 more wins this year? I'm not sure but they have given themselves a chance to fight for it...if we can't take home the ultimate prize I hope we make another team really earn it on the way out...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
