What a weird game!

Hated the ball pinging around early and likes of Dusty getting on the end of three.

Second half was excellent and the last quarter thanks to Max and others the ball just stayed in our half.

Less mistakes by our backline this week.

Petty's contested marks brilliant.

Viney is such a warrior.

JVR great kicking at goal.

Some of McVee's running out of the backline was spectacular.

Salem came good in the second half.

Woey and Harmes were a huge worry.

Max's clearance work was sublime.

Max Gawn is a legend of the Melbourne Football Club

Simply inspirational and an out and out champion of the game.

There's another little Gawn on the way too I believe, a sibling for wee George.

Technically no, I’d like Melksham to stay in when Fritsch returns.

Yep agree. Melksham is a reliable goal kicker & provides a contest

Well that was some second half from the boys.

Who said Petty will never ever be a forward!!??

Max's entire game was phenomenal including 100% game time in the last.  Epic 2nd half.

Salto with eyes only for Max on a number of occasions and not on the ball at all...charging straight at Max.... NO BLOODY FREE.  At least one was a clear block and still no free yet Max puts an arm bar out with eyes on the pill and gets pinged for a block.  Hilarious stuff and Nichols in charge of all that.  Disgraceful umpiring against Max from him.

Joel Smith a fab sub.

Melksham superb once again.

Big effort and best game from Roohey in his short career and just missed with the speckie attempt.

Chandler was solid.

Tracc was immense barring a few shonky disposals.

Maysie & Lever played their part.

Hunter's best match for the Demons so far??

Stoked with the win.... hopefully Clarry & Sparrow get back for next week.

Carn' the mighty Demons!!

Sparrow, Clarrie and Fritta make that team better on paper, pig too. Going to have some selection headaches soon.

I think it’s relatively easy for 2/3.

Clarry for JJ

Sparrow for Harmes

Fritta will be the hard one as it’s not a like for like with Melksham. Maybe it’s a Chandler.

You’re drenched, I’m jealous, would have loved to have been there.

It was a great game. Richmond brought it. They were just running us all over the place.
The best part of this win for me, other than Petty being a genuine forward, is that we ran them off their feet in the last.
Music to @binman ears. We look to be hitting peak fitness at the right time.

Not only did Petty grab a bag he blanketed Bolta who has been their leading interceptor.

Viney since Oliver went down has been supreme

Kudos to the coaching staff that changed their offensive attack 3/4 weeks ago We are letting more scores through but have multiple avenues to goal

Last week it was the smalls this week it was the Talls. We are very hard to match up on and have great flexibility.

Gee I like Pickett when he goes in the middle. Just wish he would go their mid quarter rather than just at the start

Is Fritta the last to kick six for us two years ago?

Certainly has happened this year.

Chandler has to stay. We are light on for defensive forwards when Kosi plays higher.
Fritsch can replace Woewodin who is playing high half forward.

Haven’t read the whole thread due to eating dinner but the turning point for mine was Smith on and onto Dusty, completely shut him down!

Max just switching into overdrive for me.

I think early in the game, especially the second quarter, there were too many moments where we thought too much about how cool we'd look while doing the fancy stuff. Really good mental reset to get our focus back. Aside from a collection of excellent performances, that's the big thing I'm taking from the game.

Jake Bowey still make me so very happy. Every time he gets it, our situation improves a little.

There’s no way of saying this without sounding like an absolute smart****, but I don’t care. I said in 2019 that Harry Petty would be our next best KPF. Never wavered (just kept quieter when the selectors looked like they might lose their nerve, so as not to be a repetitive bore), and today is why. In that assessment, I said his move forward from CHB would be like that of David Neitz. Too good a contested grab, too good at reading the play and too much a competitive beast who feeds on small wins to leave down back. And kicks STRAIGHT. No question he’s been great in the backline, but the boy was always gonna be a forward. Well done Petts, (I told you so, hehehe).

This is downright pathetic by the umpires. He's one of the best players in the game and time and tuime again Soldo would charge straight at Max with no eyes for theball. The goal he got was a free to Max. In the centre Max was dragged to the ground with the ump looking straight at it but no free. Happened everywhere.

There needs to be a major complaint laid. Teams cant handle Max If Dusty gotthat treatment he would get 40 frees a game.

Watch the” Petty can’t play forward” posters jump on the bandwagon now.

Max was sensational again and Viney is our bull.

Maybe Binman is right too with the loading, as we certainly ran away from them in the last.

Hopefully we can now run over teams, right through to the flag.

I can put my hand up as being in that camp, but to be fair no one saw this coming. Nothing he’d done playing fwd this year gave any indication he had a game like that in him.

How good has Melks been since fritta got injured. He been outstanding

Doesn’t get enough credit for being a very traditional forward. He’s a finisher, and he’s done his job magnificently in the last month.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
