Probably the most boring read of any game preview I've come across.  Up to page 12 and still not a word for next week’s game.  Their fans have all but given up on the season and now turning on a few of their players.

  • Thank you Rory, you've been a wonderful player, but shouldn't be selected again
  • Changes??? I couldn't care less anymore.  The only changes I'm interested in are changes at the end of the year.
  • Continuity matters. Still mathematical finals chance. No change.
    • That will absolutely loose me
  • Why bother even starting this thread.  when we know that sloane, sholl, murphy, mchenry are going absolutely fxxkn nowhere.  they wont be dropped. Not a fxxkn chance.
  • I would think so highly of Rory if he announced his retirement this week. Or that he didn't want to be picked, and will play 2s for the rest of this year. And maybe next.
  • I have no idea what they can do with Sloane. He's miles of it, but there seems to be some delusion about where he's at.
  • Powaa has no problem dropping their captain. Sloane isn't even captain and the club is scared of the reaction from the Facebook brigade. Fmd.
  • I can't wait for next February where we argue which spud deserves his spot in the best 22 only for the happy clappers to talk about what amazing depth we have.
  • We push Murphy from the forward line up to the stoppages because it's the only thing he's good at..  The other team doesn't care about him because of his poor skills so we gift them an extra in defence.
  • If Crouch or Himmelberg are playing on Sunday I'm not going

Poor Rory!!  Imagine if we had talked about Jonesy like that.  No respect being shown to Sloane.

I'll check back in a few days and hope they have something more interesting to say.

I’m surprised they know any of their players names.

Sloane has given his heart and soul to that club and has had some big personal off field tragedies to overcome at the same time.

To think his own supporters can talk about him like he’s yesterday’s trash is pathetic.
Then again, they don’t build them smart over in SA.

Disappointed there wasn’t a post about how we’ll crush them or about how overrated we are.

They don't even realise there is a game this week let alone who they will be playing!

Good! Let them forfeit the game, we'll gladly take the 4 points plus rest our players 👍🏻

Honestly it looks like Demonland pre 2021. And even sometimes since.

But as much as I despise that club, I do feel for the fans... a bit. That club self destructed in a big self inflicted way, so I don't blame them for irrational anger.

Maybe they should listen to the Melbourne theme song over and over again in preparation for the match?

Still time for a quick trip to Camp Grenada!

Sounds ridiculous but  I still rate the Crows. They run like scalded cats, have a decent midfield and sometimes an effective forward line. Sort of game where if we are slightly off we'll be licking our wounds. I reckon they are as good or better than the Don's, Freo and GWS and we know we fared against them...

Doesn't sound ridiculous at all.

A good team, who have genuine leg speed, quality across all lines, potent forward line as evidenced by their crazy good percentage, a strong sytem dialled to run and carry like the pies and buy in.

They won't be as flat against us as  they have been for the last couple of games, and I expect them to be running on top of the ground on Sunday and present a real challenge.

My expectation is they will attack, and look to run at as with handball chains and wave running a la the pies.

If they can beat us or port next round, I think they’ll make the 8.

I don't think they'll beat us, but I reckon they're a huge chance of beating Port, as Port will struggle defensively with  the crows speed of ball movement from the back half (as do we if not on).

Crom are a good mid-table team. They're falling off as the year progresses but they looked really good in patches. Almost close to top 4 quality. Suspect we will (should) deal with them easily this week. But I rate them with GWS and Hawthorn as clubs I'm not generally worried about but am still kind of sort of worried about (see: Alice Springs game).

Yes, Crows are all about meh meh meh - possibly because too many are of German descent and don't know how to spell ME. ( Hopefully, the same doesn't apply to you. You certainly don't look German...)

The poor little duddums.....all drowning in their "floaters"...

Ahhhh ..glorious news....great way to start the day.

Come Sunday....we're baking pies...   4 and 20 Blackbirds....    they won't be singing

I can confirm this. I was born in Adelaide and last night I was looking for my phone for a good 2 minutes while holding it.

I've done that looking for my glasses...yes, and phone. I think it depends also on what part of Adelaide...

Agree, no such thing as an easy game for us for the rest of the season. Even North will be tricky, my understanding is that Clarkson resumes control when we play them.

Hope we get a lot of supporters turning up this Sunday. Almost embarrassing at times the way Choco, Goody and even Petracca are almost begging for fans to turn up and make some noise

In the meantime…….One game at a time.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
