Not at all confident.

Clearly we all know the contest is where it’s all gonna have the most impact against the Lions.
Question is which part of the ground?

with Petracca out of the guts and down forward more we really need to trust that the new group of mids will get the job done. Sparrow, Rivers Jordon et al are seasoned bodies and should physically match it with the Lions.
But of course, after that there’s skill level…. and whether we have enough of that I’m not so sure.

Draw somewhere in the 65 point range.

Righto gang, not braggin' - just statin'.

Enjoying an Aperol whilst killing time. Overnight ferry Brindisi to Corfu.

1020h game time in Grecia. I'll be listening (sun too bright to watch) and reading.

Don't let me down guys. Saints coverage not bad. Hardly a Michaelangelo picture of the game but ...

Go Dee's ... happy to get the 4 points but 2 from JvR and Kossie would be nice.

Melbourne ... M. Gawn ... 3 votes.

I'm a little scarred from the start of the year where they just blew us away in the midfield until the lights blew out.  Hoping we can capture some of that magic from the final 10 minutes!

It's going to be a perfect night weather wise. no excuses for fumbling

Looking forward to watching the BB/JVR combo in action. Reckon they'll kick 6-7 goals between them with Trac chipping in with a couple.

Lower the eyes boys. Lower the eyes.

I have belief and reckon we'll win by 25 points.

Go Dees

Down from NSW for my fourth interstate trip. currently on 2 wins and 1 loss, hoping to add to the win column.

Ah Corfu, check out the cricket pitch in the middle of the town. Bizarre!

Very funny.

Wont be a game for silky skills.

Huge huge game.  Win it and we are likely top 4. Loss means likely battle and a 5-6 finish still could eventuate.  Strange to drop Grundy but in Goody we trust !!

It's one of those games, win and The Lions simply can't play the MCG - lose and we are Just pretenders. Just take the four points " not you Petracca" and don't read the press.

What a game this will be.

Brisvegas are looking to gain street cred at The G and we must win to solidify a top four spot.

Our defence must restrict them. A repeat of last week's form from May would be handy and we must keep a leash on Charley.

I reckon Petracca will spend more time at centre bounces and tonight's finals like game will draw the best from Viney.

Our forward line is the question mark. Someone must lead the way with a four goal haul. It's a huge test for JVR but hopefully BBB will snag one early and drag the heat. A return to form from Kozzie and we're certainties!

Friday night games make for a very painful trek from The Manor. Could someone please confirm whether or not  Dynon Road is fully functional?

The Manor's in house diviner has predicted Dees by 19.

🥳🥳🥳  GAMEDAY!  🥳🥳🥳

Catch the train y’ lazy old bastard.

Big stage Friday night, the streets are watching Kozzie the time is now to unleash the fury.

Time to send a message, a timely  reminder to the player haters that we are playing for keeps this year.

One, that would mean rubbing shoulders ( Urgh ) with plebeians - a fate to be avoided at all costs.

And two .... most horribly .... the terrifying probability  of the train picking up neanderthals at St. Albans!

No, I shall travel in one The Manor's comfortable fleet in far better company.

Hope we win in the ruck - no Grundy may change the psyche of Max

Max has struggled with tall, gawky ruck opponents in the past

Limit the influence of Neale and that other young kid (whose name escapes me - looks fairly suited to owning a long sword and drinking mead)

Presently feels like 9 degrees ....top of 14 and overcast all day with ye olde Melbourne eddy circling (again).

Cant get toast & Vegemite in bed let alone an Aperol from me lil storm cloud.

Really appreciate you not rubbin it in!!

THANKS Ollie!

😝

Confidence is low, but optimism is high.

I love and hate Friday night games for this reason. Win and the weekend is set up. Lose and you'll be annoyed for the rest of the weekend.

Hey! We ARE NOT neanderthals  here in snorbs. Meth heads? Yes. Shoplifters? Yes. People who sleep in other people’s toss-out? Sometimes. But we’re NOT Neanderthals!

Besides, replacement buses on our line ended last night, we’re back to first-world travel!

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
