By the numbers;

6 Steven May

5 Christian Petracca

4 Christian Salem

3 Angus Brayshaw

2 Jack Viney

1 Jake Lever

Honourable mentions;

Jake Bowey

Max Gawn

Ed Langdon

Jake Melksham

Trent Rivers

Tom Sparrow

Special mention;

Taj Woewodin😈

Adjudication;

Down a few blokes, umpires gave the Aints the run of the green for the first three quarters. Than the gas ran out. AFL, if you're serious about improving the game demand that the people who purport to be umpires act professionally. Four umpires on the field spreads the 'talent' very thin.

Broadcasters;

Dumped the 'evil' Mudocs for FTA, the game commentary was pretty lame but the post-game was OK after Trac took the mic.

Opposition Hyperbole Watch;

The Channel 7 outside broadcast producer has an unhealthy fixation on Ross Lyon. Ad nauseam cues back to Ross grinning away in the box. Luke Darcy kept referring to how cheerful and relaxed Lyon has been since his return to saintdom. Speculation suggests Ross is getting by with "A Little Help from his Friends".

From the Director's Chair;

Lovely to see Goody so animated tonight and many DL's relieved we are not "Crying in the Rain".

A bit surprised there is no love for Jordon. He ran all day, and was very clean.

Yep, JJ ran and ran creating midfield spaces either side of halfway. He opened several corridors in that process, of which only a few were exploited. He plays taller than expected and delivers well, with no hesitations in congested areas. He is a good receiver when seen, and distribution instincts seem good; our players should be seeking him out more rather than bombing or hoping to hit targets further afield.

How can anyone not give May the 6 votes?

A FB had nearly 30 touches and 12 intercept marks. He is the main reason we won that game. Saints had more inside 50s but couldn’t get past the Great Wall of May!

Phenomenal performance.

Loved the new feel about our side.

6 May - phenomenal game, inadvertently involved in two of their injuries.

5 Trac - when's the last time someone other than Fritta kicked four goals. Adjusted to new role well. May cost him the Brownlow but our forward line looked so much more dangerous and way better balanced.

4 JJ - Great to see him finally plonked in the guts and the number of times he weaved his way out of trouble was impressive.  His dominance as a matchwinner at VFL level gave him the confidence to be way more than the handbrake (Clint Bizkit's definition) he has been in his wing and high half-forward previously. Amazing what can happen when you try something different, hey Goody.

3 - Viney - usual courage and run. Our little Everready.

2 - Salem - Great run dow tackle at ket moment. Just wondered why Lever was allowed to take his free kick.

1 - Angus - Enjoyed more minutes in middle as well and seems to like variety, although he's best-suited for us as a reliable defender.

Yep. I think Bowey is very stiff and could’ve really gone anywhere from 3-1 votes.

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

    A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

    BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

    Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
