Twitter has the same reaction to Weightman's disallowed goal as I have: image.thumb.png.665d1fef1203fffa498d462d2e8c4de3.png

Looked a perfect shepard to me. Bad call

I'm normally happy if the Doggies get stiffed on a free kick but jeez that was harsh 😳

That is just horrid. How can you pay a free against Baker for that. Footy is just getting to hard to watch.

The umpires like players will be held accountable for poor performances such as the Baker call and the non holding the ball call against Alir.

Thats why finals are generally well umpired.

Baker was so stiff then. But it's kind of funny it was weightman who had the goal taken off him.

But you watch that happen on Monday and not be paid.

Omg this is BS. Absolutely ridiculous. Oskar didn’t do anything wrong. Just shepherded the ball through.

And I’m so over the commentators group-frothing over Zak bloody Butters.

Port Adelaide are becoming a very hateable team. So many cocky tools running around. Hinkley carrying on like a pork chop. Dixon a massive fake hard man. Hope they fall over in September

Considering they’ve lost 3 prelims under Ken it’s fairly certain it’ll happen again.

Going to be very hard to finish top 2 now, even with our relatively easy run home.

lose on Monday and both Pies and Port are 3 games clear.

That's a big break

If we lose on Monday the gap between 3rd and 2nd will probably become out of reach with the way Port are going.

Port are becoming annoying now.

Especially Butters, after every stop in play, trying to rough up someone lying on the ground.

He and Bailey Humphries were really major targets of JT, but we didn’t have the picks.

BT: “look at Port, equal top of the ladder!”

🤔

So… they’re second on the ladder then, you buffoon.

I’d be happy to meet Port over there in a Qualifying final.

So an entire season of watching this game being turned into a complete fiasco every week before we might start seeing some decent umpiring?

You beauty Newc!

Love Butters. Best player in the comp this year. Very jealous of Ports young mids. Butters, Rozee and Horne-Francis are all explosive and hit the scoreboard.

Hoping Sparrow can become a similar player as he’s got the physical attributes to do so, just needs it all the click at once. Showed promise the last few weeks.

I'd moved on from top-2 a while back.  Simply down to a top four focus regardless of what happens Monday (although it would be awesome to put an end to the constant media dribble/love for the Pies).

The real question is, who has the worst tatts, Liberatore or Dixon.

Some real shocking tatts on Libba, Marge Simpson smoking a dart, the Gingerbread Man with Raphael eye band, Homer Simpson, Rolling Stones tongue 👅 out with a £ symbol.

No qualms playing Powa in a Final on Adelaide Oval.

Every game I watch at the moment the umpires are just way to involved. Some of the free kicks been paid you just shake your head and change the channel.

Hope they stay out of the game Monday.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
