We are six rounds, I was wondering who would be leading the Best and Fairest count ?

I dont think anyone stands out, All have had good and bad games. I think Cam the Bruce would be leading and champion data stats back that up.

Any Suggestions ?

i reckon guys like dogga and bell for effort would be close, have been pretty consistent, always work hard. though the blokes who get 25 touches a game obviously end up with the votes. wouldnt surprise me if petterd features pretty well come round 22.

Belly!

If the FD values hard work, and looks at the amount of pressure our backline has been under, Bell will be leading, or at least top 2. Is yet to have a bad game, and is probably the only one who can lay claim to that this year.

Bruce and Moloney will be up there too.

Come the end of the year though, I hope Rivers is up in the top 3. The kid is an absolute defensive genius.

Even though he had a poor game yesterday, I'd have to say Miller.

You are most likely correct, which, with injuries, explains why we are 0-6.

Bell would be leading methinks, with Moloney not far behind. Bell hasnt had a bad game yet, and has beaten all of his opponents convincingly. Noone else in our side can say that this year. Whenever someone has been kicking bags on us, Bell has been switched onto them and shut them down. Go watch the match against Hawthorn. Williams kicks 4 on Carroll. Bell switches onto him. Holds him to only one more goal (from a soft free kick I might add), and then Williams kicked another as Bell came from the field after a heavy collision and left him without an opponent. Add the drive he gives also to his great defensive work, and you've got a good reliable backman. The guy has improved his decision making, is free of OP finally, and really is having a great season.

Moloney has also been consistently performing well in the midfield, even hampered with injury. It's sad to see him struggling to run out games. Was bad in the last quarter yesterday, he went to chase someone on the wing and just couldn't take off like he should. You could see the pain on his face that the groin was really hurting and holding him back, and also the pain of being beaten. The guy is passionate and hates being beaten. He bleeds Red n Blue. If he ever gets free of his OP, I reckon he will become a really good player and surprise alot of people.

Bruce would have been the most consistant but we have had no stand outs so the B&F could be anyone's. Williams kicked 4 on Whelan. Carrol played on Boyle. Bell's game against the Saints was very ordinary but he has been a lot better since still makes too many mistakes but he is improving and that's the main thing I wouldn't say he would be leading he hasn't been that good. Miller shouldn't be in the side let alone leading the B&F.

Chopper Caroll has been pretty good down back guys. He had a few hicups against the hawks, but has been pretty good most weeks. Considering he has stuff all games behind him, he is standing up as a senior player. If he continues to improve like he has, he will be a chance for B and F

Hats off to the bell fans. He has been fantastic in defence this year. He would be in the mix, just needs to keep up his strong efforts.

Godders would be in the mix!

I'd expect that White, Mcdonald, Jones, Godfrey, Miller, Carroll, Moloney, Green

1 - Bruce ( not that he is necessarily worthy )

2 - Godfrey ( not that he is necessarily worthy )

3 - Rivers ( worthy of higher placement , but has missed )

i actually watched rivers a bit this week and it was very interesting to se him read the play, he would follow his man on the lead but he would watch the player with the ball and change his direction based on where the kick was going...ie he would peel off his man to be 3rd man up before the other player had put boot to ball. you think this might be dangerous but it doesnt seem to be a problem for him...

yeah he's really done it his whole career. can't believe how long ago it feels since he took that mark against the bombers.

Cam Bruce @ this point of the season - Shame he cant kick to save himself.

& Yze despite his strange start to 2007 has been very handy in a couple of games.

But JARED RIVERS will make his move from here on in. The kid is class

A shame Sylvia still hasn't put his best foot forward.

Am I the only one wondering if he will ever arrive?????????????????????

Bruce cant kick but majority has said he will be top of our best and fairest? How is that possible if he cant kick? Rivers is all class but a backman will never be best and fairest for Melbourne we focus more on midfield

In todays game we are seeing backmen become playmakers more and more...

IMO Rivers would have to be up there along with Bruce and J-Mac.

Jones and Godfrey would have to be two of our most consistent performers of the season, but I doubt they've attracted huge votes thus far. Godders' last two blanketing performances have been sensational.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
