If you’re looking for a coach that changes up tactics depending on the opposition, or adjusts with astute moves on game day im afraid Goody isn’t your man.

He will persist with the exact same game plan week after week and make zero adjustments tonight. Guaranteed.

what did he say last year? we are designed to play the same way every week

There’s a whole bunch out to the right, we just never go there

What has happened to Steven May this year? He’s gone from the best Melbourne defender I’ve ever seen, to getting beaten by absolute spuds.

As weird as it sounds we need to stopping dropped an extra behind play it’s not helping when port just wins the contest at the ball 9/10 times

I agree

it’s sooooooo boring

Turn over game is not going to work if we dont apply enough pressure. Going down the line is also going to kill us. We need to take this game on with run and carry and switch plays. Games already lost though.

Game is just about done. Am embarrassing performance.

Oliver completely [censored] himself with zero awareness.

Getting ugly now

Max has cracked the [censored] and stopped trying.

Port playing a bit dirty.

Dial up the pressure for god's sake. It seems impossible to get the ball off them, every God damn handball of theirs finds a target

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
