0 stars. We were absolutely putrid. No winners.

Defense so so so much better when Petty was down there.

Phew, take that any day. A few things to work on during the week. I thought McVee with some subtle touches saved a couple of goals in the second half.

Top game!

A hard fought win against a tough opponent !

They picked through our defence too easily at times but , in the end, some big moments from Max, Tracc , Oliver in the last quarter got us over the line.

Some confusing umpiring again.

Fritta - an absolute mare!

J.Viney won that game for us.

Disgusting commentary by Dunstall, barracking for the Suns and calling umps decisions that weren’t even there.

Trac summed it up. Beaten in almost every  area.

4 points. Let's not speak of it again.

Matt Rowell is an unbelievable clearance player, and made Trac and Clarry look second rate at times.

I thought Jack Viney, Max Gawn, Trent Rivers, Jake Bowey, and Judd McVee were the only ones who came close to winning their position on the night.

We did get lucky with a few calls in the last. No doubt about it.

They were a man down for half of the last quarter too.

May kicks in to the left and close to the centre square with 15 seconds left.. [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored] gotta go closer to the boundary!

Take the points and hope we never play like this again.

My god some players need to do some work on the track this week

I was very nervous with may kicking out. Again he went the stupid option but thank goodness Viney was there.

We were lucky to get out of that.

Bring back BBB. Petty is so much better down back and he steadies us.

Start Max forward next week and let Brodie ruck the majority.

Got out of jail big time.

The Suns were very good and very unlucky not to win

Plenty to work on but we’ll bank the 4 points and move on

And Fritschy will never play a worse game than that

Yep simply incredible

May had a [censored] game no leadership and panicked all night

GC came to play, but we were generally poor with flashes of brilliance, such as the Trac, Kozzie and Chandler goals. Defence was yuck, and it is so confusing that we got smashed again in the middle.

Oliver and Frittata worst games for a long time.

Very lucky in the end. We take the points, but we have a lot of work to do.

As soon as I saw him with ball in hand I thought we were cooked. He is such a dumb player under pressure.

My kingdom for a fit Salem!

Fritta needs to walk home. He nearly cost us that game in the last. Also goodbye 35 game goal kicking streak.

We won without any of our key forwards barely doing anything. Phew!

Any top 4 side would've killed us tonight

Umm and a few others down back. Trac and Jack really lifted in the last.

Wow what a finish, not sure May is the best use of the pill when we need to kill quarters and end of game. Both end of 3rd and end of game makes poor decisions.

  • POSTGAME: Essendon

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
