Absolutely embarrassing being around these [censored] Port and Essendon supporters, i had to move otherwise there would have been no more football for me.

Pisssss poor performance.

All on our fortress they have dumped a load on us friggen, disgusting.

Lackadaisical performance, drug cheats hungrier in the contest and cleaner.

He put Petty back in the third. He should have been back half way through the first.

Geez we've been really selfish up front as well

I thought Petty started in defence

What a shocker.

Too many learnings.

We stank.

Sorry but it's true.

I can't see this team winning a premiership if I'm honest.

Bbb had better have been injured but I don't think it would have mattered much.

Our newcomer in Grundy was the only player to show some leadership in the first half.

Yep we've played behind all game which is inexcusable but especially in the wet.

Lol Essendon can't do anything wrong atm, best game they'll play all year.

Best game they will play all year.

JJ hasn't done much , I thought he would try his hardest... No one today is willing to work their arses.

Petty has been back all game.

Ooops yep yeah you're right

That’s holding the ball

Hard to find winner for us.

McVee, Tracc, and Petty's 3rd qtr

Chandler and Viney have worked hard

Surely May is injured

This has really shown us up. We can either embrace it and change for the better, or just ignorantly paper over the cracks thinking it will all just sort itself out.

Nope just a really really bad day. If he's out there he's good to go. Not copping any injury excuses

We've been belted today in a very ruthless manner.

This was more Melbourne losing than Essendon winning. We had no run and looked slow from the first bounce. Essendon is extremely mid. Bad loss. Onto next week.

We’ve changed a lot over summer, maybe we just change back to how we played against Sydney?

their pressure and structure is to focused for us... We havent looked like we have had the right mindset and effort all day.  To top it off it's one of those days where all the bounces and drops seem to fall their way.  Though when you put more effort it, that tends to happen.  I blame listening to the end of the podcast from last week this morning and how we had their measure... jinxed it :(

May often struggles when he doesn’t have a big name opponent or a bad full forward to play on. He gets caught between trying to do his duties for the zone and manning up a mobile opponent. When the up field pressure drops off he gets in [censored] spots

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
