Goodwin specifically spoke about not wanting to go too small and being wary of ruck relief (if Grundy off field, you only have one tall in the forward line) wouldn’t surprise me if Petty goes back, Hibbo misses out and Pickett comes in for Hibbo with McDonald coming in for Brown - but that could be just something Goodwin said during his presser today and goes ina different direction…we’ll find out tomorrow!

Why name Hibbo in the starting 18 then?

Hibbo pulled up? Wow

It’ll be Pickett for Brown. Petty will remain forward and I reckon Tomlinson will be sub.
They will obviously not drop Rivers or Chandler and I’ll burn the joint down if JJ gets the chop.

I've got doubt in Hibbo being fit

But if he is, then ready yourself 🔥

Why name Pickett on the bench when he’s Cleary playing….it could mean something or it could mean nothing…

if they do go brown for Pickett, it’s not a bad week to take a punt on a smaller team considering the outs WC have, but I’d be surprised if they did go that small

There must be two Spargos and two  ANBs coz the ones I watched on Sunday were outstanding.

They were very good WCW, but the point with these two (Spargo and ANB), is they are very alike and don’t hit the scoreboard often enough. Spargo and his score assists are good but not amazing like others hang their hat on. Time will tell when the chips are down will these two provide too much of, same same, with little input like last year.

Chandler has shown in very little time he can chase, tackle, harass, kick goals, with good skill and give off goals in the same games and perform at a higher level. I hope this continues. Who knows how Bedford would have performed….

I believe there is room for one of Spargo or ANB,  not two of them if we are going to improve and be serious contenders. Together they have been liabilities too often, Individually they provide value.

Coldest Easter in 80 years predicted for Melbourne on Sunday.

Some of those will be happy to be in a nice warm Perth rather than at Casey even if only as an emergency

Do you actually believe the side they list every week? If you are in the 22 then you are playing that is all you can believe from what is printed. ⁵

Assuming Pickett for Brown then who is the sub?

I'm a bit surprised that they went with such an experienced bunch of emergencies. Thought perhaps one of the younger lads might have got a look in... Laurie or even AMW

Going to make the Casey V Frankston game very interesting

Sunday Bloody Sunday feels way too far away, on Easter Friday! All this reflection time!

Anyway few thoughts on the new guys:

- fantastic to see Chandler getting some games and playing like he belongs, tackling pressure and that fantastic mark and goal against Swans!

- Hunter passer of above Chandler goal is all class and added to his wing brother in Langdon gives us the best wing combo in the league.

- McVee just looks like he has that bit of time, clean skills, he is a keeper.

- Grundy, so different to Maxy more a follower than a ruck, but when you add him in the middle to Clarrie, Trac & Viney he is icing on the cake! Max going down just highlights excellent list management.

- JVR looks like he is going to be another excitement machine and competitive beast, look after him this year and we have our CHF for next decade!

You have to hand it to the recruitment team and list management to get two best & fairest winners aged 27/28 into our team for pick 26 & 3rd rounder next year, not to mention Pies paying for the privilege, it is just an exceptional piece of recruitment and draft craft!

Go you mighty Demons!!

I thought you were suggesting Hibbo and Brown out for Kossie and Tmac. If that’s the case then you need to move a current player in the team back to replace Hibbo but I may have misunderstood you.

Gus, Judd, Riv, Bowser, Lever and May can’t stay on the ground all match. Who relieves them?

Pickett and TMac in.

Brown and Melksham Out.

Jordon unlucky and will be sub (also means Melksham is unlucky too).

Put your house on it! (Unless some of you have some different mail than me and Hibbo is injured)

Demons love how ANB, Spargo and Chandler are playing (despite some people on here doubting what they all respecvitely may bring) as a GROUP. And having all of them playing then allows kozzie to go in the midfield more regularly.

They are also very happy with the spread through the midfield with more going in there (sparrow, jordon, rivers, ANB etc.) as Trac, Carry and Viney were dead last year having played so much time on ball for the season.

Coaching staff showing a lot of sense and judgement this year.

From a personal point of view, i hope we do start to rotate players in the middle third of the season, if we have enough wins on the board.

Also very pleased to see players being played differently and having more than one setup and plan, such as petty forward last week.

I have faith we are right in the mix for a great year - as long as we get a good run with injuries

And this is why he will leave. How can he constantly be the unlucky one? Just ridiculous.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
