I think everyone of Oliver's kicks have gone straight to a lions player.

Harmes needs to loft but he's certainly not alone.

Bbb trying and doing very well.

Jv isn't fit.

Come on Tmac show some leadership.

I understand the last one from the middle with seconds to go... but most of his others have pretty been dump kicks down the line in hope without even looking.  High school footy

Reading some of the foam in here is literally making me sick. You've got people all week basically guaranteeing we'll win all tough and everything. Now a lot of those same people are jumping off and saying season over. More bile than Sydney Harbour, you have literally become the arrogance of the other sides like Geelong and Hawthorn that you let us know how much you hate on a weekly basis.

Pull your heads out of your collective rear ends and get behind this team for [censored]'s sake. I know it's a terrible situation, yes I'm really annoyed how we are playing but reach deep down inside and find that belief you had earlier. They need us.

Luke Hodge is the most dull, uninspired commentator in a very deep field of dull uninspiring commentators. He’s so biased about Brisbane, but even then he can’t muster the slightest inflection in his voice to seem enthusiastic.

It’s like listening to a car horn that only goes off to point out the obvious - so basically a car alarm that shouts out ‘I’m a car alarm, I’m a car alarm’.

can not stand him.

We're still in this.

The positives in this is besides the Petty brain fade we were able to wrestle it back that quarter.

Petracca and Oliver have been poor but they have upside to really stand up and give us some drive and clearances through the midfield.

We're getting smashed around the clearance. If we can really wrestle this back then we're back on! Getting beaten in the contested possession but again if we can minimise this then we'll be fine.

Only 3 goals! Confident we'll strike back I mean, we can't play any more poorly then that now.

[censored] Love this! Go Layzie!!!

Poor Maxy 😭😭😭

The team look so flat since he went off just not running, not getting our hands on the footy. They just want to go home I reckon. Still, it's only 20 points if our mids pull their fingers out and get hands on the ball we could pinch it but looking extremely unlikely.

We can win this? We can;t play as badly the second half.

Grundy was starting to even the stoppage contest. We were getting our hands on the ball.

3rd quarter will tell the tale but win the quarter by 2 goals and we'll overrun them

all dependent on us shaking off the first half malaise of course. but we have big time players in Trac, Clarry, Lever. and Fritsch showed his class on the siren taking a brilliant goal and slotting true.

Come on dees. You can do this.

I haven’t given up this game.

Me either.  Our scope for improvement in immense if the coaches and leaders can get them properly aroused.

Melbourne not ruling out that it’s an ACL and Gawn’s reaction is a very very very bad sign.

I reckon he’s done it. You don’t have that reaction over a 4-6 week. Fingers crossed.

Forwards also not playing in front though.

Melbourne cannot rule out and ACL to Max!?????!?? [censored] me that is demoralising

The good thing is we know we can get better. I'm hoping max and goody can regroup them and get them back on track

Not trying to make an excuse but I am just wondering how much the hard surface of the ground is not being handled well by us. A surface that they would not have trained on or played on. We seem to be missing / not picking up the bounce of the ball

Na. We are  off by  60 per cent. 2nd to the ball. Kicks to nobody. Mids ball watching. Fumbles a plenty. Umps dodgy. Spirits dampened by Max out. Soft tackles. Not enough running. Some playing as if we've lost already. But we have stopped their scoring and won the 2nd quarter. So by some alternate laws of footy we are still in it.

Can c7 get rid of brayshaw? Is there a petition somewhere?

Good news that Max is moving about.

He also has great difficulty with past participles: “would of went”, “could’ve came” etc.

Chandler, TMac, Brayshaw are not performing at the required level. I'd risk to say they are not in our best 23.

And the rest Oliver, Tracc, Petty to name a few more. We haven’t played disorganised rubbish like this since 2012.

it’s a great game the umpires can’t bounce the ball, the boundary umpires can’t throw the ball in properly and we can’t take a chest mark! And FFS don’t try to tackle “Shoulders” Ashcroft, every time we touch him it goes high and he gets a free!

Haven’t seen us play this bad for a while. Can only get better - C’mon DEES!!!!!!!

In Round 12 2021, at the Showgrounds, we were 20 points down at half time to Brisbane. Their talls were massacring us and we couldn't move the ball.

We won that game by 22. The half time score was similar to this: 8.6.54 to 5.4.34. Ended 11.9.75 to 14.13.97.

We have turned games around before. Not much in 2022 because most of the time we led them early and if anything got clawed back late, but we did it famously against Geelong in Round 23 2021 as well.

I hope Goody is focusing on the positives, as much as he can. They can barely play any better. We can hardly play worse. The margin's only 20 despite how much we've been belted in the middle. Oliver and Petracca are having minimal influence. We're dropping marks all over the place.

I hope we choose to view this second half as character building and season-defining. We can win this. I hope the players know that.

Can’t get over Oliver. Wowsers. If he lifts and a few others, look out. But wow.

Petty very fumbly tonight.

Bowey, Spargs good. Grundy getting back into it. Viney showing glimpses. Lever pretty dang good again.

Need to bring it Q3.

Abbie Holmes just asked Richo is Max was getting around the boys still??????

No Abbie. He’s cracked the [censored] and gone to the pub with his mates. Honestly. What is this garbage on Channel 7?

I hate the footy on TV. I’m forced to watch the game I love through this prism of idiots.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
