What a win given the outs.

And also given how scrappy we were at times and how many silly decisions we made.

Great start, next week is a huge test. Kosi will be missed for the next 3 weeks.

I haven't seen any replays of the Kozzie "incident" - sure it was late and maybe reckless but as far as could see at the game no head contact and no adverse outcome to the collidee.

So what does that mean in MRO points or whatever raffle they are doing this year? This week?  This game?  He elected to bump but did no harm?  (But nor did Moloney.)

Are we going to be the victims of absence of precedent once again?

I presume those saying Kozzie will get weeks we’re watching on tv and that was what the commentators said?

At the game that just looked like a stupid late contact that amounted to nothing. Smith gave Kozzie a tap on the but as he went back for his free kick. Even the replay looked hard but not head high.

Great to be back at the footy, especially when we play like that. The skills, especially the kicking, were so much better than last year (save for a couple of wobblers!). We also looked so fit.

A nice highlight for me was deep into the last quarter, when McVee (who looked gassed) willed himself to a contest with English and spoiled the ball out of touch. Brayshaw ran over and gave him the biggest bear hug, like he’d just kicked the winner. He’s going to be something - what a pick up.

Well that was fun, wasn't expecting 50 points.

I am not a great fan of leaving some of your best players (Oliver and Kozzie) on the bench at the start of a quarter.  Thats why the Dogs had the early momentum in the second.

A solid performance across the field.

Thought Jake Bowey was absolutely excellent tonight as was Mcvee.

Gee in the last quarter we were running on top of them, looked like we could have played another 4 quarters, excellent signs!!

Wasn't a punch but what does the dog expect.
Kozzie to roll over for a free remonstrate?

Looked like Tomo pre knee!

Exactly

Someone reminded me a few players have taken until 2nd year from knee to get back to for. Hopefully Thomo build on a pretty good start!

I'm a big fan, but I concede I'd thought he was pretty much done

Disappointed Tom McDonald couldn't kick that goal to replicate the 2021 grand final ending

He won us the Grand Final !

Willie Rioli got off similar last year

I thought that was fair enough myself.
Rioli was after the mark, realised he wasn't gonna get there and tucked up.
Split second thing.

Good on him

He got up from the Smith bump and appeared to apologise and Smith patted him on the bum appearing to accept apology

Then the cavalry arrived to remonstrate

Looks like McRae walked into one

Thought Lever really stood up in Mays absence.

Bowey is Mr reliable

Kozzie has arrived as a complete player, looks bigger and more powerful and will be a nightmare match up, as if they didn’t have their hands full already with Clarry and Trac.

TMac looked out of sorts , but it’s a positive to kick a winning score with TMac down and Fritter out. BBB will hold down that Full forward spot bar injury.

Interesting TOG stats.

Lever, Petty and Tomlinson all 100%. Next was Langdon on 89%. Which means everyone other than our three key defenders got at least 11% time on the bench.

IIRC we often had Langdon and other runners in the 90s for TOG last year. I’m hoping we learnt some lessons about resting players.

And Langdon on the MCC wing 😱

Also how good was the roar when BBB kicked that goal wide open in the last!

Strong showing from the dees faithful tonight!!

Nup not on 4 possesions sorry but at this stage not up to it

So you're writing him off after one game? Seriously???

Spargo was good tonight. Another one if your 'not up to it' players,  hey?

And playing half forward. With Nibbler take a big stretch of wing minutes.

We won’t be able to go with 2 (or 3) small wingers against certain sides in big games, I love that they’re working on versatility now

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
