Yep and it would be weekend after weekend of disappointment.

Thank [censored] those days are gone and gone for good!

Yes it's hard to see our team falling away with all the young talent we have on the list (and experienced talent of course)

The template is there now and we just need those within the club to remain hungry (ravenous) whilst endeavouring to stay ahead of the game making smart moves

Our best beats both of the teams tonight but we were not always at our best in the 2nd half of last year

Recruit well and keep extending the window

Three Brownlow votes for Cripps tonight, didn't do anything but thats never stopped the Umps before.

I always turn the sound off when Nathan Brown (🐅 broken leg version) starts up about “the odds”!
Did he quite a “3 Downlow votes for tonight odds market?

Doesn't deserve a thread of it's own, but I'm watching the post game press conference and I can't help but ask:

Any chance in 2023 we can get some room microphones to be able to actually hear the journalists questions?

So the Blues, with 3 talls, struggled all night to keep the ball in their F50. Gives us a taste of Sat night. As long as the Doggies talls arnt  clunking it, they’ll struggle to keep it in their  forward half.

What a surprising statement from Voss

I would be furious

Their supporters would not be happy with that statement. Very David Teague.

If they were to miss finals again on the back of a few more chokes like that the knives will be out.

Never mind Vossy’s statement, I’m furious about that typo. The word “chargers” should be “charges” 😁

Hope so. I vividly remember Carlton between 1970-95

No Sympathy at all. Let them burn for eternity

Wow. Very exciting end to a very meh game.

I watched it on Kayo which had the 4 wise monkeys as quarter and half time commentators, Buckley's gem for the night was; "they need to put the gas to the peddle". Truly BT worthy, the other 3 just kept going like nothing had happened. No wonder he confused the Collingwood players.

I would welcome another quarter century of mediocrity from them.

Honestly I had the tigers making the 8 and they might, Carlton for me finish 9-10 depending on port. What a [censored] show last night was. People can argue it’s only rd 1, but for Carlton who we’ve been told “are coming” since 2009 that was garbage. For me the only highlights of the game were the  Bolton mark, 2 goals from Lynch (one from the pocket and one to level it) and the Curnow goal from the pocket. I’m going to find out what they paid for hopper because GWS would be laughing. Taranto gets a lot of it but can’t kick. Based on that only a 4/5 teams are in the hunt this year. Jack and Dusty are past it. Dynasty well and truly over. Teams want to get of to a good start, there will be games this week when a team will lose but they would have played a brand of footy where people will say “they’re going to be hard to beat this season”. You’d be [censored] if your club loses to either of those two teams last night. The game must now go to someone else, if not last years GF, then the 2 teams that lost the preliminary, so last night would be Pies v Lions.

Another example why 19 teams won’t work.

Yeah beautiful wasnt it

A few takes

1 Crypts Loved by umps

2 Saad one way runner and NEVER picks up a man the other way and as for Jack Martin... what a dud

3 Shai Boltin should be dropped on that pathetic shot on goal

4 Both teams very avg but Rich very unlucky to lose

1.5M a year between 'em. Amazing. Throw in McGovern and you have the price of a bedsitter in the back streets of Bondi Beach.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
