This has been debunked by Sam Edmund as pure guess work from a random nuffy supporter who texted in to SEN. SEN then did some follow up work.

Edmund on to say that he doesn't think there is anything in the works and that Melbourne are now acknowledging that games need to be put into the younger players instead of going out and buying big.

Sorry to disappoint.

Is that a fact?

Pretty sure @Nudge and @Ethan Tremblay have their fingers on the pulse of something big. Come on guys - show your cards!

🍐💀🏇 2024; make it happen, you cowards

might be a chance with port looking to split their 2024 first into multiple second round selections to get the esava, bzk, and sweet deals done

we are likely to have a bunch of second rounders - could be as many as four after the grundy deal and jj compo are done - that we probably don't need

Heard on an SEN podcast that we're planning something big. Can't wait for trade period!

That would be their assumption, as they actually know nothing.

If they did know anything, the teasers would be flying.

That's the impression I got listening to it first time round. Hopeful demon supporter surmising that we must have something in the works with our draft capital and salary cap space.

I think we get McAdam and a back-up ruck, then focus on improving our draft hand in this year and next.

In my view, we will have a good crack at a serious player next year.

I reckon the odds of McLean coming to us as part of the Grundy trade is a fair chance.  He played 22 games in the ruck and fwd, kicked 21 goals. He won't be playing much with Grundy there.  Only 24.  Him and Gawn would work nicely together

197cm 99kg about to enter his prime.  Swans have a lot of talls

If not him, then one of their tall fwds.  They will have Reid, McDonald and Amartey. Can't really play all three

Or even throw in the unknown Jack Buller. 199cm fwd/ruck. 22yo, done well in the WAFL last year apparently.

Can't see McLean being cleared after his last game.

Amartey is a chance, but no star and probably behind Petty and JVR atm.

Don't know anything about Buller.

Trade week prep: Words to know the meaning of

Something brewing “I read on BigFooty that we are chasing someone big”

Big News coming “I read on BigFooty that we are chasing someone big”

Definite Possibility “I read on BigFooty that we are chasing someone big”

in reality no one knows [censored] and very little will happen

Could be just diverting.

Anyway, surely we are not losing so many players and just looking to draft young replacements.

McAdam in and then we could have another 5-6 spots.

If we got talented kids I wouldn't mind, but it doesn't sound likely and of course we need that extra mature ruckman.

I wonder if we'd have a look at Ladhams? he's more of a forward ruck and likely falling down the pecking order at the Swans

He’s a spud, we don’t want spuds. If we recruit a tall spud Max will end up doing all the ruck work and be cooked come September. We have Schache as back up. We need someone half decent so Max can rest during the year.

Feeling the love.... I know where I'm not wanted!!

Btw I agree Re; Ladhams, complete spud and undisciplined one at that.

Doubt Saints would offer him up, but coming back from a knee you never know, so I'd enquire about Jack Hayes...

He's a [censored] and a spud. The Swans are chasing Grundy now because Hickey has retired and Ladhams has failed as an AFL player. Not to mention he's undisciplined. Got suspended again on the eve of finals when Hickey was out and left his club without a ruckman. And his treatment of young Woey on the boundary last year in the VFL last year was disgraceful. I'd be disgusted with the club if they brought him in.

We'll likely bring in a battler or mature ager as backup for Max the next two years until our young rucks develop and add Kalani White as development too.

From being drafted, let alone how many more to be ready, if he is even good enough.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
