Gold Coast have a few out so I would t rule out a north win.

You can 100% rule them out. They will not lose that #1 pick with one game left in the season. Absolutely no chance in hell.

BBB getting his body right is a rather large 'if' given his chronic knee issue. Likely to retire for mine maybe with some payout for final year.

Our new forward coach next year?

West Coast were not taking Reid so pick 2 suits them fine.

Still a chance roos get pick 2 for McKay given today's reports Sydney are offering him a deal that may trigger band 1 compensation.

1. North - Reid

2. North - Curtin

3. WC- 😩

Quite honestly there is only so much BS the AFL can pull. In no way is McKay worth pick 2. Not even if Sydney pay him a million bucks.

Not happening. The Eagles have been a basket case and AFL won’t allow that to happen.

Curtin will be an Eagle.

He is actually an ordinary player and often injured.

Cal floated it on Gettable earlier that if North got pick two as compo that maybe they could do a deal with WC so they still get Curtain. I smell a rat. I think if North get pick two they will have been secretly told they can’t use it for Curtain or that they have to trade it.

Of course he isn't. No one is suggesting he is. But the AFL rules are deliberately ambiguous and they can make it happen. It will be their draft assistance. And if Sydney pays him $1,000,000 then that makes it all the more easier for the AFL to approve.

The Eagles are the richest and most well resourced club in the game and won a flag only 5 years ago. AFL won't and shouldn't do them any direct favours, particularly as history (read ladder) will show them as not the worst team over the past two years. If they have another 1-2 years of these performances, then they can apply for assistance.

Darcy Parish seems available.

Personally i'd rather take our picks to the draft, but that is an interesting watch.

also Jaded, you should know that the AFL are corrupt and their bs is limitless.

Did they say that or has it been public news with some reliability. Just because there was a questionable item about him not wanting to go West  is not enough to say they are not picking him.

Should we consider Ivan Solda from Richmond?

Seems out of favour

if he was to sit behind one of gawn and nank he'd probably stay a tiger. more likely to be a cat, pear, swan or wherever grundy isn't in '24 id imagine.

we'd be in the preuss/flynn/lycett/mirkov/reidy/hayes/ladhams discuss more likely

Trac, Clarry, Viney, Brayshaw, Rivers,  Langdon and Reid 🤣.

Parish would not get a look in with what we have and what we have developing underneath.

Apparently we are also keen on Connor O’Sullivan. Not sure we’ll reach with a top 5 pick but no doubt if we get 2 x top 10 picks we’ll have him in the frame. I see he’s rated around pick 10.

From Jon Ralph…

“What about this trade? Grundy to Port Adelaide, Georgiades to the Dons, Nick Bryan to Dees as the Gawn successor. Essendon throw in a second rounder to Dees.”

Bryan … no no no

I don't think we'll get him but I reckon he would compliment Oliver and Viney.

Ralph needs to stop reporting on Essendon big footy trade ideas.

Wouldn't we just rather Georgiadis?

Not quite Jaded. The AFL are outdoing themselves with even more BS today through their media arm:

North Melbourne also remains hopeful of retaining McKay, with the club's list manager Brady Rawlings telling Gettable earlier this month that the Kangaroos would consider forcing a trade if they didn't receive first-round compensation for his exit.

McKay's potential departure could help North Melbourne lands picks No.1 and No.2 at the upcoming national draft, should it receive tier one compensation in return. The club is currently last on the AFL ladder with one game to play in the year.

McKay, who stands at 202cm, has established himself as one of the League's best lockdown and intercept defenders across his 70-game and eight-year North Melbourne career. The Kangaroos have the ability to match any rival bid for him, given his status as a restricted free agent.

– Riley Beveridge

Is there any stat that puts him in the top echelon of defenders? No mention of his injury history either.

We only paid pick 27 so anything around 25-32 is fair. You could argue that his value decreased in 2023 but not by much.

I wonder if we could throw in say $200k (once off not per year) and get pick 22 out of Sydney

WHAT?!?!

valie has inc CONSIDERABLY, the eye of the be(holder) being awe hold ALL cards. Why we’d trade him for anything less than top 18 pick is beyond me. No salary cover either, 3 teams or more bidding = Dees have the nuts.

id prefer to keep him, Max is 3yrs older & I can smell an injury if we do trade Grundy. But if we get good cover, sure trade him but only on OUR terms!!!

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
