definitely 2 Brookies, maybe we take FEB as an a rookie as we have the spots?

Did you know Scott Pendlebury has one?

So much timeย

Exciting prospect. List coming together nicely. If we can snag one more ready made ruck as a rookie and draft a KP weโ€™re looking very good.

This makes our drafting of Finn Emile-Brennan interesting as we no longer have a B rookie spot.

So do we think he will go around pick 37 or do we not intend to take.ย  Of course we could swap in a late pick.ย

Intriguing.

Edit: correction of pick 47 should have been pick 37.

Finn could go straight onto the rookie list (category A) if he made it through the National draft. Or Melbourne may choose to upgrade Moniz-Wakefield to the primary list so Finn can take that spot. Think heโ€™ll be at the Dees regardless as long as he makes it past the first 40 picks.

let's make it "two sheds jackson" in memory of a noted demonlander

and let's hope he's two-times as good a ruck as that other jackson emigreย

Why not just call him Arthur, then?

MFC ruck duo in five years time - Kalani White and Farris-White?

Is there anyone out there called Farris (sic) Fawcett because they should be able to kick majors.

Worth a shot considering we're a bit light on for ruck depth.

I rather like his nonchalance with opposition 'gamesmen'. He seems-ย  on the footage - to possess some attitude, self-confidence and is not fazed by other blokes. Good qualities for a 'tall', alongside his agility, 'reading' the plays, taking possession of the ball, and he knows (albeit basketball) how to be effective, and when.

I genuinely feel sorry for blokes out there that have been playing footy since day dot, go through the system busting their absolute [censored] [censored] and yet a bloke can get plucked from a basketball court straight onto an AFL list having yet not played footy for a few years.

Doesn't sit right with me.

Doesn't seem right for me.

Inclined to agree, and also not convinced about the return on investment.

Someone like Stef Martin went through the grades organically. Turned up to play with his mates then through to the VFL.ย

Half decent form in local footy would have anyone 206cm and athletic on VFL clubs radars as is.

I wonder if you gave Casey 100k more on the basis that they could spend 50k per year more on coaching/support staff and 5 x 10k on retaining high upside under 22 talent if youโ€™d produce more afl players.

Perhaps there's an ability to shift AMW from Cat-B to A which will allow us to take FEB? We have I think 3? Cat-A rookie spots to fill so could be a way around the issue.

There are far more advanced footballers or ruckman in this instance, either in the NAB league, suburban and country leaguesย or state level that would be well ahead and much more developed from a footballing point of view.

Getting a bit over clubs getting so sucked in by raw athletic ability over more natural footballers put there waiting for their opportunities.ย

And tennis and footy. He was good mates with my son at Haileybury, Berwick. Top bloke with smarts and lovely family. We were so disappointed when he went to the lions. Long time ago

The thing is Dazzle that as a club we now lack talls and this kid at 18 is already 206cm and 95 kg, he has played footy in the past so not a total novice and is originally from Vic. I also liked the way he handled himself body on body wise on the court. This could fill one of our long term issues, now letโ€™s get a tough tall forward into our ranks. JT is on the move.!!

Let me rephrase that. Some attributes are valued more highly than others.

Great prospect. Already knows a semi professional environment. Big unit considering he is only 18. ย

The most enticing thing about all of this is the fact that with ANB, AMW, this bloke and Finn Emile-Brennan possibly coming in, we are coming close to breaking an old club record of the most players with hyphenated names in its history.

He will get to learn at the feet of two of the best current ruckmen. ย

He's already 206cm, so there's wont be much learning at the feet. Learning from Gawn's eyebrows and Grundy's man-bun?

Also, that means we now have FIVE 200cm+ players on our list, so we can finally hold an EntMoot.

Love the lateral thinking by the club. We now have 2 A grade rucks, a soon to be developed ruck in Faris-White and a future father son in Kalani White. We also could pick another in this year's drafts or even next year. very happy with this selection.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
