All the best for Jayden. Careers don't last long so make the most you can.

Dees obviously have plans for half back and a wish to bring new players etc.

Pick 52 is a bit skimpy but we may be able to put it to good use.

  • Demonland changed the title to Farewell Jayden Hunt

Melbourne list manager Tim Lamb thanked Hunt for his commitment and contribution to the Demons.

"Jayden has been an excellent contributor to our club over a sustained period," Lamb said.

"He played an important role for us at half-back over the last couple of years and was unlucky to miss out on 2021 premiership having suffered an ankle injury in round 21 of that year.

"We are rapt for him that he has the opportunity to continue his career at West Coast and we wish him all the best in the next chapter."

Well we drafted JH at pick 57 in the 2013 and T-Mac was acquired at pick 53 so you never know.  Harmes was a rookie

At a guess we might bundle the pick looking to get into a better position for our 3rd or 4th pick in the draft

🤮🤮🤮🤮that’s usually said when a player has been perennially injured and likely to be delisted

compo is 3rd round likely pick 52-54 🤮🤮🤮🤮. A player who played 42 out of a possible 46 games across two years for a team that finished premiers and 2nd across the two years. He’s a push/giveaway effectively for very little in return .

or he can keep his source to himself and keep providing information.  He has some form from the past and gets some inside info. if you don't want to read it either ignore him or block him but others like me want to hear it

Thanks for the sage advice, I'll take that onboard however I will remain cynical when people make statements and then won't back them up. I posted that Hunt wasn't happy and that's because that's what he told Mrs Dw at the B&F. She should have asked him if he knocked back a 2 yr deal several weeks ago and then we might or might not have some clarity. By the by I'm not asking him not to post information but if it's from a report in the Media I think it's far enough that that is stated. If it's a confidential source he could always state that instead of being ........ defensive.

Good luck to you buddy! Feel free to stop reading my posts

I'll equally feel free to keep reading them.

How many years did he get? How we know the comp but not the contract?

Knowing it was definitely gonna happen doesn’t make this any easier. Especially when one stupidly harboured a faint hope right until the end that he somehow might stay.
Of course just like everyone else I sincerely wish him well, but that’s one game I know I won’t be attending next season, ie. the first time he plays against us. 😔

Very disappointed. I loved watching Hunt play. Yes, his kicking at full pace was full of errors. This is not unusual across the footy world, it is just that Jayden played at full pace so often so therefore - more clangers. I wish him all the best but am genuinely sad to see him in another jumper.

Jayden Hunt is a great lad. Never shirked. Had a great 2021 and was very unfortunate to get injured a month out from finals. Deserved a premiership medallion (I don't like the convention that only those who play on the day get a medallion. He was a major contributor across the season and deserved a medal imv)

I hate the Eagles but I wish you well Jayden. All the best

Beautifully said Maldon.  My thoughts exactly.  Maybe not the silk / finish we would have hoped for but still one of my favs to watch.

A big thank you to Hunty for everything he gave in the red & blue.  Including playing in the bulk of matches during 2021, most.of them wins, that helped us grab the ultimate prize.  Will never forget.

Going to miss the initial bursts out of traffic, the chase down tackles, breaking lines and ...the headband!

Good luck son and all the best with everything from here.

100% BDA. Alongside chunk & to some degree Tomo, he was certainly one that would feel very unlucky to have missed out.

I feel a bit sad about this but I think we have a few players who can replace him.

But did we not offer him a contract or did he choose to go for better opportunities?

Especially a western ‘burbs ranga!

You can put the farm on it (livestock and chattels included).

I’ll even book an ambo for Luci before we start brawling. It’s the least I can do.

Me: Geelong, 2022 GF

Luci: Sydney, 2022 GF

and i'd add uncle's manor to the list

I think Jayden is someone we all universally want to see do well. I hope he’s leaving with no hard feelings and I certainly would love nothing more than to see him do really well at West Coast (although I despise that club).

I feel for Jayden. He’s been on the edge of our team for the best part of 5 years. That’s a hard place to be. Over the last couple of years when he made mistakes you could see him beating himself up about it.

I hope he can play with the freedom that makes him so great to watch when he’s up and about.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
