Collingwood have definitely played the most exciting brand of football this year, but their fairy tale was not to be.

Oh, damn.

And of course it will be all about the Papley mark and goal and nothing about the Collingwood frees forward, or non frees against … or Darcy’s kick across goal.

Be fair they only tried in the last quarter.

Counterpoint: it's Collingwood, so let's not be fair.

No No just Howe's two stuff ups in the third.

If we weren't banged up like we were then I believe our gameplan and list would have delivered us another grand final. Yes I understand the excitement of using the corridor but boy it's risky.

I'm defo not sad that they've lost, but the way they play is bloody exciting. If they'd gone from 17th to a grand final, that would have been ridiculous. I'm relieved it hasn't happened though. I really like McCrae as a coach.

The secret to winning flags is to be there or thereabouts year in year out, then wait for things to go your way. Exhibit A: Melbourne Storm.

You would prefer the alternative?

[censored] yeah, the Swans did us over and embarrassed us.

I admire the way the Pies go about it.
They just will not lay down.
As a supporter you couldn't ask for anything more.

Yep, you might hate the club but their style of play is probably the best.

Quite possibly the least interesting two teams we could have.

It’s frustrating because if Melbourne were still in it I could see us easily getting out to a 30 point lead and then choking against either of these two teams.

The game plan would not have delivered us anything. As the plan evolved or maybe a better description is degenerated over the second half of the season, banged up players or not, we were barely a top 8 team.

Yes but the 3 years prior they lost in a gf, preliminary and a semi. 17th was the outlier.

My god Sydney nearly choked then. I was dead set certain the pies were going to steal that. I had images of them kicking a goal or receiving a free kick.

But then I think how sweet it is they lost by 1 point & how all there supporters paid outrageous flight prices to travel and now they have to fly, drive, bus or train it home miserable.

But the kicker for me is knowing Jeremy Howe will not get a chance to have a crack at a flag this year and he didn't have a great day

Sort of satisfying that the close game specialists lose two finals by a goal or under

Regression to the mean.

I see you've been working on your sincerity Mazer.

On my way home from the Swans - Pies game.

Hilarious. A good time was had by all.

The Sydney crowd is a different beast to what it was evenfice years ago. Glorious voice. The duelling & duetting slow chants were magnificently efforts of mutual irritation.

Up in the top of the stand where I was, the building was actually shaking from people jumping up and down to the Swans song.

Again, good time had by all.

Just here to say SUCK [censored] COLLINGWOOD!
Poetic justice that you went out the way you’ve won it all year.

Now Sydney, for the love of god, do us a solid and smash Geelong next week.

Post of the finals

Boy you hopped off our band wagon pretty quick. It was only 4 months ago they were saying we were unbeatable with our game plan. What changed….injuries.

And he won't have in the future, I have the feeling this Collingwood team will digress/Plateau next year. Hopefully they also will have to keep carrying Grundy's contract

I guess you could say they 'got what they deserved'

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
