yep

If we make it, I fancy Geelong more than the Pies.

I think that’s the most contested and hard game of footy I’ve ever seen - so good. And from my two most hated clubs. Off to punish myself for this dirty thought with a nice glass of wine.

Hate them both but great great game.

Exactly my sentiment :)

I hate Geelong more than Collingwood. Seeing them win a thriller with Gary Rohan playing well makes me sick. Will all be worth it if we knock them out in a fortnight though.

I do too BUT I rather play them than the Pies so this is a good outcome for us.

We weren’t too shabby last time we met them in a prelim!

I know we lost our first.  But what a season, and what a finals series.

But nobody really cares about the next game, Who's playing?

They'll have to meet in the prelim.

It’s the best outcome. They were both super but at least we don’t have to contend with the crowd.

Fine line between pleasure and pain for Collingwood

Win tonight and they’d fancy beating Brisbane or Melbourne in a prelim.

But now they face the boobie prize - Sydney at the SCG.

Thank christ for that. I'd fancy Sydney to take care of Collingwood again up there should they get that far. It's just a question of whether we can bring our best for three consecutive games. Right now I have my doubts.

Great to watch a game where umpires didn't favour either team, just let it flow.

beating geelong in a prelim two years in a row would be sweet. got to get the boys right for next week, hopefully lightning can strike three times and we punish the bears

Agree, it’s been an unbelievable season and it’s hard not to think there will be a couple more classic games.

The only good thing to take out of our loss is I believe we are at least on the right side of the finals, as I reckon Filth could’ve taken it right up to us with their game style. Though I don’t like that defeatist type of reasoning.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
