If one of our players said what Zorko said I'd want him suspended at the least and i would seriously consider cutting them from the list unless genuine contrition and remorse was shown

Agree with others. Out of respect to Harry we should close this thread

Having now pieced together what happened,  l agree we should move on as HP requested. It was a horrible thing that happened, and Zorko should be seriously sanctioned by the Lions or preferably dismissed altogether. There should be no place in AFL for such a character.

l think it is also time that the players start policing themselves, as David King suggested the other night ie the players association hands out suspensions/bans themselves for just such instances as this: after all, it is in nobody’s interests, least of all the players and the clubs,  to allow this sort of behaviour to tarnish what is generally a very well regarded playing group (particularly when compared to NRL). Zorko should be banned indefinitely.

Do the AFLPA weald the power to sanction another player? i wasn't aware that they (potentially) had this authority.

Like the media they can influence actions and outcomes. But they prefer to keep a low profile because they don’t want to rock the boat.

They’re likely not aware either since that’s got nothing to do with pay rises and the issue of pay rises is pretty much the only time Dangerfield fights for anything.

That and a shorter game...

What on earth did Zorko say that made Petty totally lose it? Nobody seems willing to repeat it.   What did he say that was so horrible.

'I prefer your disco blue away strip to the traditional darker blue of your home strip"

Apparently petty hates the word strip being used instead of jumper.

'Bloody soccer term is strip' he apparently said in response to Zorko's sledge.

A press release is not an apology.

Needs to be a public apology on video plus a token of remorse (10/20k to a charity of Petty's nomination).

No it doesn’t.  As the offended party whatever Harrison Petty considers as appropriate for an outcome is where it should finish and his wishes should be respected

Exactly.

Anything else contradicts what Petty wants and risks causing him further distress.

And in terms of a penalty, the damage to Zorko's reputation is penalty enough.

Like Carmen headbutting an umpire all those years ago, people won't forget the transgression and the stain will remain forever, no matter what Zorko pursues post football.

agree - Zorko is the big loser here. He has trashed whatever was left of his reputation and will be unlikely to get any high level coaching job post retirement.

Harrison does not want it taken further.  That is enough for me.
And of course if Zorko plays against us again, ever, he needs to be relentlessly harassed and mauled.  Maybe he will discover “general soreness” on the eve of our next meeting.

Ah! now he is the victim

"People in glass houses."

Perhaps Zorko's mental health status was why he steps over the line.

If he is struggling with mental health issues, it would be prudent to have the VC take over his captain roles. He can play footy and not have to face scrutiny when doing any public and media duties, or lead his team-mates who must all think he stepped over the line.

That made him cry  ?

What was actually said, does anyone know.

As for our away jumper i think all AFL away jumpers look absurd.  Never liked that lighter blue MFC jumper. I bet Barassi wouldnt want one. Carltons looks like 1970's underwear.

Well I just read an article.
Supposedly said " I hope your mother dies."

I thought it was Jake lever has a better mustache than you...... that is just hurtful

Honestly i think it reflects really badly on Brisbane that they're seemingly not only accepting this behavior, but they're keeping this guy on as captain.

I honestly believe that if Max did something like this, seriously consideration would go into removing the captaincy from him

The comment was definitely NOT ‘l hope your mother dies’. Idk where Robinson got that from. And I’m amazed he can report something (on such a sensitive issue) that’s totally untrue.

How would you know? You haven't backed this up with anything, you can't just insert an opinion and pass it off as a fact like that.

Yes she can when it’s not an opinion.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
