Some in the media won't be happy until they can make public whatever upset Petty without having any concern that that may be more upsetting to Petty than what happened on Friday night.

Media are absolute grubs

A press release is not an apology.

Needs to be a public apology on video plus a token of remorse (10/20k to a charity of Petty's nomination).

I'm not sure an apology and a promise to be better cuts it. It's disgusting what he said. If he said something similar about race or sexuality he'd be facing a long ban. Don't know why vilifying a family member is ok. not even a slap on the wrist

If Harry doesn't want anymore publicity about this then that's totally understandable. It's a deeply personal matter. I'd hate to have my family dragged through the social media cesspool because of this

Words can't describe the contempt I have for that low life Zorko

Bris should be sanctioning its only player as Petty doesn't want the attention on his family and doesn't want it to be a long investigation

Jonathan Brown last night: "I think Harrison Petty would be embarrassed with his part in this situation "

Yes, he absolutely said that.

I think he did well not to knock Zorko's head off. Great restraint & maturity from Harrison...

...what would have happened if he did?

The other thing is what part did Harrison play in this, he was a very unwilling participant.

...I think the club and Richo in particular handled this whole situation superbly. It could really have blown up but for calm heads.

Remember a few years ago when Tom Bugg snapped Callum Mills' jaw and we had him come out straight after the game to do an interview? This was exactly what we needed to see from Zorko in my view.

Instead they sit on their hands till Sat arvo and print out a press release after the PR people probably spent all night working on it. I'll accept it but could have been much better.

We should back Petty 1000% but if he’s happy to not escalate things it would be nice if we could keep the details under wraps. Doesn’t mean we excuse Zorko, but it would show we’re focused on the job and protect Petty from whatever it was that set him off to begin with

Can a D'lander please spot me 900%? I'm running short this month.

Don’t know if the comment has been made public and I sincerely hope not, but what that filthy lowlife said to Harry was so vile that it’s no surprise he was in tears. They call it sledging? Sledging doesn’t come anywhere near it. They say he crossed a line? He obliterated the line.

It’s also the reason the above ‘apology’ means jack [censored]. It’s scripted, it’s insincere, it’s absolutely worthless.

I'd imagine he has been 'compelled' by the AFL, but more importantly by the people that make up the Brisbane board and FD, to make direct contact with HP should HP want that. They're different arms of the same organisation (AFL).

The response is no where near good enough. It requires a sanction of some kind, either a fine or preferably a suspension. Zorko has got away with essentially no consequences, especially considering the grub denied saying anything initially.

I think you’re all bring too harsh on Brown until we know what he meant by this. There are several ways to read into it. Maybe he referring to personal family details being discussed amongst the public. Or all the attention when this should be kept in-house. Brown has shown to be a good person over many years and seems to be a good father too. Let’s not cancel him just yet

FFS. Cancel him? Can people not call someone out without the free speech brigade banging on about cancelling? No one's calling for Brown to be cancelled. People are merely pointing out he's a nuffy, who is part of the problem.

His comments were either poorly worded (so stand by them) or they were pathetic. He's paid big bucks to analyse football. If he can't string a sentence together properly that's his fault and needs to stand by his words.

Don't hold your breath.  The AFL did SFA about the Cripps farce & they will do nothing about this.

I understand Essendrugs have been in touch with Zorko's management this morning. Offering him the Captain/Coaching position at Tulla.

Tell that to Harrison Petty and his team mates and see how you go.  I dare you.

I'm  really talking about Demonland & the Media. A lot of outrage, a lame scripted apology & its over.

Maybe have a beer & chill out you still sound outraged.

That’s my point, let’s not be too harsh. He is on radio and tv all the time. A poor choice of words will happen eventually

He apologised to Harry on-field but only after being urged to by a teammate. Harry understandably didn’t accept the apology.

They need to give us some idea of the sledge.

Spectators can be barred from games, with the AFL not holding back on what was said.

The players are schooled about what is ok. The audiences are not, nor do they have any support.

If they out audiences, then, out those who are supposed to be educated and with support, the offender must stand to public opinion.

So in my mind I speculate, sexist comments would be front and centre (mum, sister, an LBGTQIA), or disability, or maybe a family member dealing with an illness.

The ones who should really be embarrassed by this are the TV networks who cottened onto Harry, blew it up into some huge incident and then wouldn't let it go.  There wasn't really any public interest angle they 'had to know about' in this incident, just a bunch of nosey comentators desperately trying to make a story out of something which happed on field.  Max and others were quite obviously playing a very straight bat to it post game despite the all the media prying.

In the end, I think Harry may well have feel embarrassed about this incident, but as a result of the OTT media circus around it, not any actions on his behalf.  Great job Fox and Seven (BT was one of the worst got a sniff of it and went blabbering on and carrying on that 'they'll get to the bottom of this' for pretty much 50% of the commentary time post the event).

When a Player cannot take the field after a 3/4 time huddle because he is too emotional, that is a story that needs to be sorted out.

Harry has absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about at all

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
