I wonder what they'll do if Clarkson turns them down...

It is being reported that Clarkson is "interested" in talking to Essendon, but for all we know, he's just doing that (if it's true) to extract a better deal from North.

Yeah/nah. He's doing it on behalf of the rest of the comp. Phukkkking with them for a few dayz, then walk away. ArmaggeDON left with egg all over their faces. Love it. Thank you Clarko.

Bombers treatment of Rutten is disgraceful and matched by the treatment of Teague at Carlton.

Rutten can’t leave, or he forfeits his last year salary. They are actively pursuing another Coach and yet leave him in place.

Whether they get Clarko or not and I think it’s not, as they left their run too late and Robbo says he will announce next week, they should have ended it with Rutten.

Thanks.  Feel for North to have put their welcome mat out only to be ditched 'at the altar' so to speak.

Any info on who might replace Yze?

Cheers.

Pretty disappointing from Clarko for mine. Chasing the 'big club' instead of the club that has put so much time and effort into getting him and would let him run the show.

I doubt very much he runs the show at Essendon. Too many egos.

Similar to how the Hawks treated Clarkson. Said he would coach out his contract into the next year and then thought they might lose Mitchell and virtually sacked a 4 time premiership coach. Staggering.

I certainly hope we never treat our own like this

Will be interesting to see how Clarko handles the negotiations. Will be around power and control and bringing his own people in. Unless the bombers let him control footy matters he will walk, whether that is now or in 1-2 years when the bombers heirarchy change their mind. Toxic club but maybe Clarko can fix it. List wise, the bombers are the obvious choice. They have 4/5 high quality kids. And 4-5 quality senior players in their peak. Some good trade bait

A problem for Ess is that if Clarkson brings in own people Ess will have some hefty staff contracts to pay out straight out of the soft cap .  The AFL will probably bankroll some of the retrenchment costs were it to be North (like they did us) but all hell would break lose if the AFL were to help Ess,

Clarkson's ego may lead him to the big club but I hope his political skills are well and truly honed.  His bully-its-my-way style won't work at Ess.  Not all staff or board members want him.

Clarko loves stability, as stated by Sam Mitchell yesterday and Essendon are far from stable.

There are factions and fights all over the place. People will have to be sacked and moved on and a flag will be expected immediately.

The whole club will have to change.

Not sure that is what Clarko wants, even though they are the big club he would have wanted a while ago.

Why he's not a shoe in to coach an AFL club

The jungle drums are very loudly saying he is a shoe in at GWS.

Jungle drums from multiple jungles...

I suspect Clarkson will end up at North. Rather than Clarkson negotiating with Essendon to see if he should go there, he may be using that by-play as a test to see how resolute North are. If North don't panic (and so far, there are no public signs of panic) it might help convince him that North is the team that's ready for him. In other words, he may be deliberately stoking the Essendon fire to test North's resolve, not Essendon's.

Essendon are in a horrible place, according to Rohan Connolly (huge bombers man) the flag winning VFLW coaching staff all resigned prior to the first AFLW season due to the toxic culture at the club.

!

Careful where you rest your head Clarko…

They need a clean out similar to us 9 years ago.

Goody's defence of Rutten today was great, i liked it, could easily see him replacing Ooze next year.

Get real what has he done right at Bomberland?

At least Clarkson knows that if he goes to North, it’s a club that’s bottomed out and malleable to his wishes. The Bombers are still plagued by internal fighting and he no doubt will be plunged into ongoing culture war.

You may well be correct and he chooses North, however, what we know is that his Manager is very close personal friends with Barham, the new Essendon President & the appeal of getting Essendon back to being a super powerful, wealthy Club is playing large with Clarko.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
