We need 4 Gus’s like the old Nike Wanganeen ad!

Two questions

1.  What’s the tactic of kicking to the forward pockets rather than the central hotspot in front of goal ?….  It’s such a negative “defensive” play and easily stopped (Perhaps explains why we have 50-60 inside 50s yet goal scoring rate of 18-20%)

2. 90% of the time , Steven May kicks out to 60 metres out , to the pack on the half back flank!!!  So predictable. Question - WHY? …… -( it’s very boring and other sides push numbers and punch it back. - How do other sides vary it , like the Swans who brought to ball to their inside 50 on 5/8 occasions without a Magpie touching it!!! )

The thing I wonder about the stats proving both the kick-in to one side, and inside 50 entry to pocket is the “percentage play”, is surely those stats are factoring in an opposition, that doesn’t know exactly where we will go a majority of the time.

Ie surely mixing it up a bit, allows us to maximise the “percentage play” by having an opposition that can’t setup with near certainty of knowing what we will do?!

FYI although it’s far from clear on the AFL site, betting sites and premium ticketing site all have a pre finals bye for all teams 26th-28th of August, first week of finals 2nd-4th September with no breaks leading to Grand Final Day on 24th September.

I hope this is the case because if we play interstate I want to go and won't be able to if there is no pre-finals bye.

Thanks for reading it out.

When I listen to podcasts I have it in my head what the podcasters look like and its never anything near the reality.

Do you think the three of you would do a podcast together in a the same room and get a photo together and if not have you three caught up at the footy at all through out the year?

This is the only known photo of us.

We do the podcast remotely. We now use video which makes it easier to give visual cues if someone wants to say something. We have met up a number of times the latest being at last friday's Captain's Run.

Do you just use Zoom/Skype for the video or one of those programs like Zencaster? Would love to know how you get the audio in tip top shape and what mic you use Andy but I know magicians don't reveal their secrets easily.

I will take a photo of my set up when I get home.

We used to use Skype but the audio coming from the other hosts was horrible. We now use zencaster and the audio coming from it is pretty good.

Great listen as usual. Surprised that Binman is still talking up Loading as being such a major factor to our form. There's 1 round to go not 6. Sure we can be fresher but the difference between 1st round of finals and now will be incremental at best.

I look forward to smiling wryly to myself as we swarm all game and power away from a tiring lions in the last 15 minutes of the game.

Oh and i'm going to love the post match review of the game as the Fox 'analysts' fall over themselves to say the dees are back, and do their their level best to walk back their grim predictions of our demise.

Might even get Andy to clip it up and play on next week's show.

I think the 2nd point is a bit overplayed. In the 1st quarter May kicked it to just the left corner of the centre corner square a handful of times which led to inside 50s and overlap run. We have cards up our sleeve.

A +40 point differential to us in the 2nd half this week, and the loading cult will be signing up new  members thick and fast.

We need a new recruiting push. Smashing the lions in the second half will help.

Hey @binman, you guys were discussing the expected weather/ground conditions for Friday night. This is from a Brissie Dees fan. I know their definition of freezing is different to ours, but the dewy grass bit might be true.

The unwavering faith in our ills being predominantly fitness related is impressive.

I think we stack up well against the Lions so I agree with the predicted result,  but not because our side is an incrementally fresher team than the one that took on Carlton in a brusing affair.

Happy to memorialise, anoint or erect @binman‘s nudey-run onto canvas if he (or anyone who commissions) so wishes. Done nudes before, so shouldn’t be a problem.

Let’s wait and see DemonWA. Your ability to 100% discount it, is equally impressive.

Mmm predominantly - i feel like we have been here before. Words in mouth and all that.

Looks like you are not going to hear me - so hell I'll make it easer for you:

Our form is completely and utterly dependent on loading. Loading is so much the biggest factor that really, it is not even worth discussing others.

I get it DWA (Demon With Attitude?), you are not part of the cult. That's ok.

Just enjoy the win because we stack up well against the lions and be confident it has nothing to do with being incrementally fresher team than the one that took on Carlton in a bruising affair.
