B: BELL, CARROLL, BIZZELL

HB: PETTARD, RIVERS, SYLVIA

C: YZE, JOHNSTONE, BATE

HF: PICKETT, MILLER, DAVEY

F: GREEN, NEITZ, DUNN

FOLL: WHITE, BRUCE, MCDONALD

IC: C.JOHNSON, WHEATLEY, WARD, JAMAR

EMERG: HOLLAND, BROWN, GODFREY

Learn how to kick Bate for christ sake. The worst kick I have ever seen.

Neitz said he might play this week if not this week the next. I think that if he is only 50% he will play due to the prediciment were in.

He would be crazy and foolish to do so. No need to fall on his bayonet at this point. Little achieved by having him immobile and restrained in his kicking. Only risk making a terrible problem worse. I would rather have him back fully fit in a couple of weeks.

B - Bell Carroll Bizzell

HB - Rivers Holland Petterd

C - Johnstone Bruce Green

HF - Pickett Miller Yze

F - Davey Dunn P.Johnson

R - White McDonald Sylvia

I/C - C.Johnson Brown Bate Buckley

Out - Jones, Wheatley, Whelan (inj ) Ward, Jamar, Godfrey

In - Johnstone, Rivers, Petterd, Holland, C.Johnson, Buckley

Bate very lucky, but did find the ball last week

Ward, Jamar, Godfrey - all liabilaities, and must make way for fresh talent

Petterd and Buckely to debut - KIDS WITH PACE! We need a shot in the arm. Play the kids

Holland back in. Why ws he dropped in the first place? Will play on the Swans resting ruckman - Everitt or Jolly

Praying Johnstone and Rivers are right to go.

I heard on SEN that Johnstone, Moloney and Rivers are all possible inclusions this week, no mention of Neitz. So based on that...

F: Davey, Jamar, Yze

FOLL: White, McDonald, Moloney

I/C: Buckley, Godfrey, C Johnson, Sylvia

In - Johnstone, Rivers, Petterd, Holland, C.Johnson, Buckley

Not bad, but we won't make 3 unforced changes, given our injury list.

Johnstone and Rivers are clearly needed if fit, and Petterd or Buckley should hopefully debut.

But we will not drop Jamar and bring in Holland. If you want to bring in Holland, you need to drop PJ as they essentially play the same role and there is no room for both in the backline.

Ward is deplorable, and I hope they drop him, but I just can't see it happening. The way it stands, he still has more pace than anyone else who could cover his position. Bartram and Frawley will hopefully push him out of the side later down the track.

Out: Jones, Whelan, Brown, Wheatley

In: TJ, Rivers, Petterd, CJ/ Buckley or obviously Moloney if fit!

Brown's injury saves Ward one would think.

Nathan Carroll's form is a worry, does he take Hall? i spose there arn't too many options. with Neitz and Robbo out Miller may not be able to be moved.

The SCG is small enough to possibly have Miller on Hall, with Dunn at CHF and maybe Sylvia/ Green/ Yze rotating out the square.

But I'd hate to push him down back after he's been doing so well in the forward line.

A bad game on Hall could completely ruin his confidence.

Maybe so but it wouldn't be the first time that he's played Neita at 50% or worse remember 2005. I don't want to see it but I think it's a possibility.

Look at this side and wonder what all the fuss is about. More than capable of making the finals from here. I question Chris Johnson against the Swans though. They might kill him.

I doubt he'll play but Neita is a 50-50 chance to line up this week

Also, Brent Moloney (groin), Travis Johnstone (hamstring), Daniel Bell (concussion), Paul Wheatley (shoulder), Nathan Brown (calf) and Jared Rivers (hamstring) also are rated as tests for the Swans game.

I'm not sure how accurate this is, as Ch. 7 declared Browny to be out for a couple of weeks.

However, if we can get Beamer, TJ and Rivers into the side and Belly is also fit, we are some sort of a chance. Not a big one, but still a chance.

Am I dellusional?

P.S.- when did Travis injure his hamstring?

Byron Miller Bruce

Sylvia Dunn Davey

Let Carroll and Bizzell double-team Hall

Bell can take O'Keefe

Petterd to just run and run off half back

Bruce and Green to both play as midfielders, pushing deep into defence, then starting the rebound

Davey to just play, let him go where he wants, Pickett to do the same

Miller, Dunn and Sylvia all start deep, rotating their leads

we only need one spare ruckman this week

Something a little different. We leak like a sieve down back because we have no control in the middle. PJ is a great trier, and reasonably athletic, so play him behind the ball (stand the resting ruckman if he goes forward). Miller on Hall.

Fergy to CHF - not a real need on the SCG, but he can roam and lead up the ground, aka the old Miller role. I would put Sylvia back and use his drive to bring the ball out.

I would DEMAND that white dominates the corridor - and acts as a link man in the square. If he kicks anything less that 45 degrees off the goal to goal line, bench him. Get him to present to players coming off the half back, with Fergy posting up as the other option.

Pettard in - lets see what he has. Dunn at FF, deserves it after last week. Give Nietz at least one more.

Assuming TJ and Moloney are right to go.

Pickett to squish kenally, then Bruce to make him look like an Irish backpacker lost from Fox studios.

Buckley to come in if Moloney doesn't come up.

Bate to prove lots of people wrong....

I doubt we will get either Johnstone or Moloney back this week, so my team would be

Petterd Miller Carroll

Bell Bate Biz

Ward Junior Green

Bruce Pickett Davey

Yze Dunn PJ

White Sylvia Godfrey

CJ, Buckley, Wheatley, Newton

I want to play Bate on Ryan O'Keefe for two reasons, I see it as a good match up and this is the type of player Bate should try to become. He needs to a defensive side to his game and some accountability, what better way than playing him down back and as I said this is the type of player I would love for him to become. We don't need a true CHF, Miler has been good for us this year but we need him against Hall. If TJ, Rivers or Moloney get fit they would come in. Newton, IMO he is not ready for AFL yet but due to injuries we need to play him to give us a little X factor, the unknown. He can play forward or on a wing.

how has buckley somehow become automatic selection?

He isn't an automatic selection, but we have quite literally run out of midfielders.

McLean, Moloney, TJ and now Jones are all injured. That's 4 regular midfielders not playing.

If Moloney and TJ don't come up for this week, we need to select someone who can replace them. We tried Whelan, but he's injured. Bell will be needed in the backline, Green needs to spend a bit of time up forward, and Sylvia is nowhere near fit enough to take on Sydney midfield.

So who do you suggest comes in and covers the midfield injuries?

Buckley is a midfielder, and has had a couple of years to learn the craft at Sandy. I rather we get him in to cover the injuries, than bring back Phil Read! <_<

O'Keefe would have a field day, Bate looks so slow it looks like he's running through wet concrete.

I'm sure he's lost a couple of yards of pace over the pre-season.

I hope he comes good, last year I thought he looked like he was going to be a good player but imo he has gone backwards a long way.

I think that the coach could be the big winner this week!!

He could be innovative and not play a centre half forward line - push them up on to the wings.... then play all of our forwards deep - dunn, yze, green, sylvia, pettard, white, etc. this means that midfielders should also be able to kick goals on the run......

we need to put pressure on the ball and by choking up the midfield this will give us a chance.... play extra numbers, etc.. the swans have done it for years.... Leo Barry is in pretty poor form at the moment, so let's hope that continues....

rivers back is critical - that extra man, his ability to be that third man up and to read the play.....

miller i would suggest needs to start on hall - he has done such a good job previously that you cannot go away from this formula...

not sure holland would get a game!!

We really need another foward option to assist dunn, i hope it is newton. miller just doesn't have a presence and will bob up at times. petterd, c.johnson and buckley all deserve there spots and rivers and jonstone are obvious ins.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
