Well if we beat Lions, odds are we play them in Sydney. Are you happy with that?

At least it’s a double chance and to date we haven’t lost interstate this season.

Depends on margins it could also be at the G.

Lions favourites (slight) next week. Would that be the first time the market has us opening up as ‘underdogs’ this season?

We have a 39.29% win ratio at the SCG with 11 wins and 17 losses. It hurts we have to rely on other results. But would be depressing to finish 6th and play Richmond after being 10-0. Double chance means we could win the flag despite our form this year. Lose against the Lions and our season is almost certainly done.

And Bombers lose by 84 points, nice way to finish a good weekend.

Essendon's performance in 2022 has been nothing short of pathetic. They have really fallen off a proverbial cliff.

Also pro tip: Never take shelter from a thunderstorm under a proverbial cliff.

Well all in all a pretty good weekend we beat Carlton in the last minute, Collingwood lose and Essendon got flogged. Bring on the Lions.

Ha just reading social media & the bombers fans are going nuts. that is an absolute shalacking & port aren't even that good

Where was that kind of kicking from Collingwood last week. Sydney did what we should have done had the kicking for goal not been so nuts.

Well done Essendon, you're the real lords of the dance.

More like Essendon't.

Podcast on AFL website this morning from Damien Barrett.

"Ed was right",   with Barrett noting Ed Langdon was right about the Pies being 'one trick" - which he was and many in the media agreed supporting him at the time.

Hopefully it brings a smile to Ed's face this morning after a rock climbing effort probably.

Who would have thought a smart guy could be right!

And a lot of those loses were in the period when we couldn't beat ourselves in an ultra club game.

On the topic of Ed, any reason why Carlton supporters were booing him on the weekend?

Were they sticking up for Collingwood or something?

Either way you can cut through that irony with a Tim Shaw steak knife.

Heads are going to roll at Essendon after that insipid performance. The straw that broke the camels back for sure.

Does North try and win this weekend  avoiding B2B wooden spoons or do they flop around lose and take 1st draft pick. The player will probably refuse to sign up...lol

Yes .Heard this at the ground. It was very half hearted and amusing compared to the loud booing to cripps right through the game. But now I'm glad he beat the wrap so he can deal with the pies on sunday

I couldnt understand why most posters wanted pies to lose. Now we're in real pickle. Pies winning was much better as they have a putrid %. Swans% better than ours. And they play garbage next week.

Think it's just force of habit.

As the blues have a much chance of beating the Pies. If we both lose we stay above pies. Swans will win for sure. Saints nothing to play for

It is a great pity that King didn't get the Saints up over the Pooh Bears.  He flung his body and legs around as if he needed to kick the ball over the grandstand.    On the same topic, Gawn for his first point could have kept his hand on the ball for longer while dropping the ball and wouldn't have needed to chase it with his foot.  It makes you love TMac even more.  The big guy kicked like a back man but now his run, drop and leg are on the same line with mathematical precision.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
