What a ridiculous system. The MRO is pointless. Gets appealed then tribunal is held and then that can be appealed?? Cmon guys we can do better. That’ll be 4 assessments of the one incident.

FMD

Remind me to take off ten throws, six shoves in the back two umpire kisses, each, and two half time and four general umpire conversations, three swaggers, two stagers and one pirouette. Then add it on again.

I am still betting on him getting off.

Of Carlton put this much effort into winning games of footy they might not be in this precarious position where they're odds on to finish 9th!

What a joke

He should get 3 weeks for challenging the decision

As the Tribunal said :

Tribunal chairman Jeff Gleeson said the incident fell into the "bumping of an opponent" category and it was not a reasonable way to contest the ball.

"He entered the contest at speed and saw a player in his peripheral vision, left his feet and bumped Ah Chee at high speed," Gleeson said.

"He should have contested the ball differently. He could have taken the ball with his arms outstretched so there was no act of bumping at all."

QED.

Carlton argued Cripps didn’t see Ah Chee in his peripheral vision. He was straight in front of him FFS! Clearly smashed a bloke half his side to fire up his team

Clubs usually have until 12pm Wednesday to appeal a tribunal decision, heard on the radio Carlton were given until 5pm today because their representative/lawyer was in court today.

To me it looks like Crapps has the Brownlow sewn up and it wold be an enormous embarrassment to Gil on Brownlow night if he couldn't claim the medal.

Prepare for an acquittal and an apology.

Has barely polled a vote since the bye. He won’t even be top 3.

If he gets suspended I see this playing out until Thursday night.
2 weeks today, challenge at the Tribunal Tuesday night where the ban is upheld and finally to the appeals board Thursday.

Mate are you a fortune teller? Fair call on that.

Maybe it’s my MFCSS, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets off, plays against us, is BoG and we lose. It would just be very Melbourne.

Of course he saw him , That's why he jumped in the air.

IIRC... The MRO/Tribunal/Appeals Board mechanisms protect AFL from these cases being take to courts and potentially having a court grant injunctive relief for a period of time nullifying suspension (IE wait until season over until hearing appeal)

I'm sure Lawyers on here can comment with more knowledge than I on this matter.

So appeals board is effectively last chance saloon

Didn’t see him is a laughable defense. If he didn’t see him, why did he even jump in the air? Why didn’t he extend his arms and attempt to grab the ball from the air? Why didn’t he extend his arms to spoil the ball? Why did he turn his body and put weight behind his shoulder?

If he gets off, then the precedent is set; bumps to the head that knock out opponents are fair game.

No way he should get off.

Question: if Cripps’ suspension gets extended and Carlton gets knocked out of the H&A season, as the extension will roll into next year would he be ineligible for next year’s Brownlow?

It's a good question, I'd say it should. Unless they factor in the stupid pre season games.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
