Only in AFL with AFL commentators could a player not get a free for either the initial tackle or the pile on just because he had said something 'insulting' during the week.  What a circus.

Cannot understand why there is not a bigger outcry over this incident.

Blatant animal thuggery by a bunch of sooky under instruction cowards.

With the narrative the media have it is no surprise. It's more entertainment than sport these days. They don't want us winning 2 straight and there's not many Dees supporters in the media.

Imagine if Langdon got concussion. He hit his head the ground quite hard and was lucky he was not hurt. The media like to [censored] the horse from both ends. They would have screamed outrage at the targeted irresponsible tackle and the brutality of it all as well as the lax umpiring and inaction to prevent these kind of incidents from the AFL.

I can imagine how Langdon's family felt about him having an "attempted burial" during a game. It was a disgrace and a terrible look for a potential team of thugs.

See my new rule of the week thread. He had at least 3 frees in that incident without one being paid. I thought it was disgusting.

The commentators are now confirmed garbage as their comments were not about any free missed but that the violence showed the Pies had come to play.

What about the pile drive of his head into the ground by Maynard? MRO will be a nothing to see hear from ex Pie Christian.

Did you notice Pendles come in late, as Langdon was lying on the ground with 2 fists resting/pushing into his face, with a forearm to the jaw? Yes the clean Pies Captain, who then whinges to the umpires for the whole game, like he does every week.

They will be letting this go at their own peril.

I mean this rag tag club has got form for discrimination and all sorts of other baggage, and from what I hear two of the perpetrators were people that were very interested in dropping away from there for big financial gain.WTF

Multiple combinations but I suppose we are hoping for Carlton to beat Brisbane but not by  so much that they get say a 5 point percentage boost.

Life would be so much easier had we beaten the Dogs and the Pies

Swans looking good to move into top 4

Only early but right at the moment fails would be Coll Vs Melb  and Cats Vs Swans.  Now I would not want to play the Swans at the MCG first up.

North will probably fade away late and let the Swans get us on percent

Need 46 points at the moment to catch us. Still would be equal on points so even if both teams won their last two game would come down to who won be the most.  There are so many ways this can work out even with only two game to go. Swan might beat the Pies and end up 3rd, we play them at the G or beat the Pies by 24 points and end up 2nd we play the in Sydney. Of course we win one and play the Cats at the G or miss the top 4 all together. Some one get me a headache tablet, make it two.

North given up

There goes 3rd spot

We'll get it back next week

I feel like Brisbane are the anti-Demons. They feel like they could explode, go bang and kick 25 goals, but they also feel like they don’t have any team defensive structure.

We're going to be 5th by the end of today.

North are a rubbish team ... I'd say they are doing their best

But their best is not good!

Doubt it very much unless the Blues hit Treasury Casino a little early.

Hope our boys are watching how to take Carlton apart … we need to dominate them next week👍💙❤️

The AFL draw definitely shaped the look of the eight this year. Geelong and Swans  got Norf twice + % boost. Geelong also got two bites at the eagles .

Geelong are laughing at the moment. Too easy for them. Everyone in the 8 has to fight for their lives except Geelong.

Hope they go out in straight sets.  Too many soft  H & AW games.

I am dead set ready to throw my Foxtel box out the window. Stupid box takes forever to work & when it does come on it just randomly changes channels and is running to its own brain

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
