Adams is a decent big bodied mid that they really could have used tonight. I'm hoping to be pretty physical at the coalface and exploit this.

Bit of a misnomer this - they will play De Goey in the guts to compensate. He's extremely dynamic in there and has torched us before (one particular game I remember he had it on an absolute string)

I'm taking my tin  of Brasso to the game tonight with a clean rag.

Win, lose or draw I'm passing to Ed as he walks of the ground so he can go home tonight and give his Premeirship Medal a quick polish.

You mean they're not 22 Carat gold.

Go away...next you'll be telling us there's no Santa Claus !!!

I certainly hope that we have very good umpires tonight that are not overly influenced by the the feral army.

Not wanting to buy into the mental health issues discussed above (at least not in this post), I also hope the umpires don’t soften up on their interpretation of the head ducking rule because of after match comments from last week.

If you get caught high going for the ball - free kick. If you look like your objective is to get a free, rather than the footy  - play on. Pretty simple!

We’ll see what happens tonight

I don't think it is apples for apples personally. De Goey doesn't have the tank of Adams, not currently anyway.

You're right though, he's lit us up the last few times and could make up for the loss of Adams if he has one of those days again.

Feeling very confident about the game. I really feel like we're primed to tear the pies a new one

To quote a headline from the back page of the Herald Sun (circa early 1960s) that has stuck with me over the years: "Today's Magpies are Tomorrow's Feather Dusters".

That is magnificent!

Can you still buy newspaper clippings for yesteryear?

Ditto. At the risk of sounding ‘Collingwoodish’ I find it incredibly difficult to articulate how I really feel about my disdain of Collingwood and all that it stands for by not being allowed to use a full array of expletives in these posts!

‘I just want us to crush these bar:$@Ed’s’ just doesn’t cut it.

Still no rain, just some stray drops.

Grey skies,

Certainly no downpours.

Hoping for the same as we head into the evening.

I'm 6 km from the ground. Light drizzle. It's cloudy and I think may rain during the game but dossent look like it will be heavy like last week against Freo.

Weather looking pretty miserable for the game. Big Cox will be about as useful as one of those flapping inflatable figures at used car yards

As has been discussed, the pies go fast and push up hard.

They will find that method harder to implement againat us than almost any other team, particularly their and aggressive fast ball movement because we are so good at forcing and punishing turnovers.

But if they do get forward, we are also better placed than any other team to get over or through their high press and scoring on transition from our defence.

Think of our very first goal last week.

The ball was trapped almost on freo's goal line and their half forwards and mids were pressed up high, the way the pies like to do.

Once we won the ball we were able to get through ther press and out into space.

Handball from trac to viney, back to tracc and a 60 metre kick to kozzie running back towards goal, having  started up around the half back flank.

His opponent couldn't go with kozzie.

Tracc could have chosen other options as all our forwards had pushed up and were streaming forward.

Took all of 30 seconds, and only for possessions  to go from one end of the ground to the other.

Bang, bang, bang.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
