I think Sheeds thinks Essendrug is still his Club and that he still rules. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out. A lot of Essendrug still believe Hird should have got the job

Sheeds going public regarding the coaching vote and his disapproval of the outcome makes his position on the board untenable. The chairman should tell him to fall on his sword. If he's honorable he would do it without prompting from the chair

How often has Sheedy fallen on his sword? he is either invincible or has access to the best surgeons in the land.

Oh I know.

Its fantastic.

And with Yze not there I can actively root for their failure.

Hell, with a Scott in there I might get my voodoo dolls out

My former Chair on a Board I was involved with (mulit-billion dollar outfit)would demand Sheedy's resignation.

If not, then he and most other Board members, myself included, would resign over this breach of Board governance.

Big, big test for David Barham.

The phrase 'Sheedy out of his depth here'  comes to mind

How the hell can you run a coaching shortlist process if one guy keeps grandstanding like this? I agree, his postion on the board should be in jeopardy.

Oh dear Essendon, i also think it's ridiculous that they carried on all the way through the Brad Scott press confrence about a renewed focus on footy, only to hire a guy with a background in major banks

Ooze should be counting his blessings. Essenscum just can't help themselves. What a ridiculous CEO appointment.

i've always been under the impression that essendrugs had a very strong catholic following

on that basis seems a good fit 😂

Adem Yze to North next year if Clarkson's career goes down the toilet? Sounds like he's so close to a senior gig he can touch it.

Although I'm not sure if the MFC would be willing to let him go so late in the piece.

I said to Adem on Friday night that he may have dodged a bullet by not getting the Dons gig. Imagine Sheedy waiting in the wings for you to fail so he can say ‘I told you we should have appointed James’.

I sensed that Adem was gutted.

I spoke with my Dons mate yesterday. He dined with Sheedy, Hird and one or two other board members three days after the Hawks review was released. When mention was made in the report of a Hawks assistant coach possibly being involved (or at least privy to the actions of others) Yze was out of the running.

In a way I think that is sad that someone could be hounded out of a job for their beliefs and the church they belong to.

Someone at Ess ad the AFL didn't do enough due diligence on the cultural fit.  Just shows some clubs just don't get the importance of being an inclusive club, not just in word but also in deed.

Find it more sad that a church will hound people for the way they were born, but each to their own I guess...

hope there are no practising catholics or muslims on the board or the executive

could be a blood bath

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
