Certainly not Collingwood - they never travel 6 times.

OMG - not "The Fremantle Doctor" 😱.

That's our 11th interstate win in a row.

Hunt the ball, hunt the man ferociously, win the game.

Boom!

And dont play the slackest of rolling zones....up on them and in their face from the get go,  only reverting to the above when the game was well and truly beyond doubt in the last quarter.

I suppose we could say we unloaded on Freo

Gus in the guts. 😍😍

Sure it was because of Harmes not being available but there were a few other tweaks tonight as well.

Kick in's were not as predictable for one.

I agree

The McClelland Trophy is up for grabs!

In all seriousness, after tonight, why can't we finish on top?

We can certainly win our last 3 but we need the Cats to slip up

Great win against a side that really cannot handle wet weather, and a game style they don’t seem to be able to adjust. The wet suited our contested style and relentless pressure - with more fumbles and more dropped marks they were just given zero opportunity to play how they wanted.

Backs were impressive.  Setup and talk behind the ball was back where it needs to be and stay.  Petty might not get the touches, but the spoils and blanketing of players is crucial.  Rivers had some important defensive clearances early, and hopefully Lever recovers fine.

Viney probably having a career best season, absolute beast.  With Clarry tagged, Petracca and Brayshaw covered well.  Saw some criticism for Sparrow but thought that was a far better effort, better disposal and involvement.

The negatives for mine were obviously Weideman just having no involvement.  Some said in the game day he was competing in the conditions but I rarely saw that.  ANB had a rough game, didn’t play to conditions and even before injury I genuinely thought Jackson was disinterested.  Weak in the contest, little follow up - almost had an individual moment of brilliance before the main break  but otherwise disappointing.

Reckon on that kind of form and pressure we’re perfectly ready for the Pies!  Go Dees.

Next time then. I need a photo with the Demonland tattoo.

Might be slightly awkward though, it’s on the front of my upper thigh.. I’m around tomorrow evening if you’re still in town, otherwise next season!

Backline was so much better balanced with Hunt providing some defensive cover and speed across half back.

Gus helped the midfield get more uncontested possessions and cover on the defensive side. But the wet weather made his indiscriminate hacking of the ball forward look good. And Brodie and Mundy had about 3000 disposals each, but didn’t have the space or skills to do much with them.

Fritsch was excellent. Weid and Melk not exactly a pack crashing force, but they did enough to panic Pearce, Cox and Young out of intercepts. Apart from that stretch in the 3rd where Mundy put himself in our bomb out spot and the talls couldn’t come across and impact.

I still don’t think we go anywhere without an uncontested kicking game to keep teams honest and some miracle recoveries or performances from tall forwards. But when we can win in the air the ground game still has a lot going for it

Gus is much craftier than our other mids.  He's also a solid D as we've seen all year but doesn't offer the line breaking run of Hibberd (to a lessor extent but it's still there), Hunt or, at times, Rivers.

Quick reaction time and smarts in terms of decision making (handball vs quick kick vs roll and gun vs the old one/two).  Certainly has more tricks in his bag.

Speaking of Hibberd i thought he was super tonight.

2 howlers in the 3rd quarter but a low disposal total v Port and a fade out on tired legs last week were silly criticisms. His work rate and strength and power at the contest are just immense, and short of completely butchering the ball he won’t be going anywhere.

Hunt was a good inclusion tonight, he did his job.

We need as many as possible to turn up next week against Collingwood, we owe those [censored].

A great team effort, selfless passing to players in a better position kicking for goal was great to see. I would like to see some of our players move the ball on a bit quicker. A few mark and then hold things up and allow the opposition to get into position. We play our best when we are running, and kicking long.

Sometimes as supporters we wax lyrical about individuals and their form. But the hallmark of this team is when they all do their role, are mentally switched on, the opposition don't get a sniff.

I don't know what that role is but it results in a fantastic collective result!

The harassment, the defensive skills, the tackling like you mean it, clogging up the corridor was back to its best tonight.

Add to that moments of brilliance from the likes of Fritta and it deflating for the opposition.

Sure we had some quiet players in terms of stats, but if they mostly did their job. And that's all that matters.

Nothing takes the gloss off a win quite like a 10 minute Joel Selwood montage. Thanks Fox.

Can't stand it or him. I just want to smash them up in finals again.
