Not sure of the points value of a climb up from 3rd round into early second round but it is hard to believe Bedford would be worth anywhere near that much.

32 is 2nd round. It's moving from late second to early second, yes, but a pick they might not even use

A great win if the club can make it happen!

I reckon we get the Bedford done first to get our hands on pick 21. then on trade that to the pies

Is it? One article I read stated it would only happen after the Jackson trade is done. Hopefully it's the former and no Jackson capital goes towards Grundy.

I’ve read both, early and after. Just being hopeful here.

Exactly.

On one hand it’s a salary dump.

On the other hand, we have no back up ruckman and his obviously the best available.

Not a clear cut salary dump, if reports are right and they pay $300k

A pick in the low 20’s is fair for a multiple all Australian.

We can get 4 time All Aus Robbie Gray for a pick in the 80’s

Pickett, while this approach could work and we 'win' the trade, such a transactional approach harm our reputation of being reasonable in negotiating trades and is likely to bite us on future trade.

Like others have suggested if we can trade up on of our later picks to an early / mid second rounder through the loss of Hunt and Bedford.  through the Jackson trade we should then have a early first round pick this year and an extra first round next year.

Yeah , I know but sheeeit I dont like it!

This is specious reasoning. What are the probabilities of a player of that calibre that late in the draft? Less than 1%.

Getting picks ‘right’ in the top 15 means stars, 200 gamers or greats of the game.

We have a few we prepared earlier…

Getting the picks 50+ ‘right’ means role players, 50 gamers, and projects that dont go anywhere.

Your frustration is misplaced, literally in random threads, and in reality.

Pretty sure the Grundy deal will be dependent on the Luke Jackson Freo deal.

If that's the case then it's going to be a long wait as the Jsckson Freo deal will be a lot more complex.

Why are these two deals linked?

We are not going to give Collingwood a top 10 pick for Grundy, which is what we are asking for Jackson.

I reckon the two deals are separate.

Sounding like Freo want a second rounder in return along with Jackson which I was hoping to use as part of the Grundy deal. All comes down to how that one works out

We should use the second rounder in the Grundy deal and get it done early and then we can say to Bell, sorry we don't have a second round to give you!   From memory, Bell did similar to us when he split the Freo picks before the Hogan trade (ie he reduced what he could offer us as he no longer had it).

Nah, I reckon we'll move forward irrespective of Jackson and Freo. Worst case scenario we have Jackson, Grundy and Max on our list, but we know LJ will get to a club in the West somehow.

What are you thinking gets the deal done?

2nd rounder?

For Grundy? Pick 20-25. Whether it's acquired as part of a shuffling of future picks and the Bedford trade, who knows, but we can't sit on our hands and hope Peter Bell grows a brain.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
