Hard to comprehend that GC need salary cap relief that badly.

I just can't see a world where Gold Coast need to offload players due to salary cap pressure and we would be in a position to take advantage of it.

Tim Lamb will deserve a huge bonus if he has managed our list that well.

Agreed.  The 'salary dump' change is intended to help struggling clubs who have the cap space get access to better picks/players.  Hence, the article mentions the clubs with the cap space: Hawthorn, Saints, Ess and Geelong.   It frightens the bejeesus our of me that Geelong could have the cap space to get him and get pick 7.  The AFL should check if there are 'freebies' being offered by Geelong that they don't count.  It just doesn't make sense that they can afford Bowes.

It sounds great but also sounds like that deal likely has more $$ sitting in that last year than we would likely afford. I can see other teams as mentioned above having much more ease to accommodate and more want for the pick. I just like him as a player and would fit a 22 need in my view.

I don’t think he has 2 years left. He wasn’t given a 5 yr contract.

4 year deal with an option for a fifth if he hits the triggers? (I assume that it would be based on the # of games if that was the case).

If it is that situation (and I'm not saying it is necessarily the case with Tomo), but other players at other clubs have not been played in the seniors to avoid them hitting those triggers.   Backers of the player might perceive that as unfair, backers of the club would argue it's entirely in the clubs best interest to do that.
