Who are the other players freo are chasing?

given that they're trying to emulate our 2021 set-up it would not surprise me if zurhaar - another wa boy out of contract - was a key target

sideshow bob = tabener
fritsh = zurhaar
gawn / jackson = darcy / dog
anb = switkowski [fwiw he is really missed in their forward structure last few rounds]
pickett = walters
spargo = schultz

the one they really lack if lobb goes is a plugger mac type as that gut runner up to the logos as a chf

they're basically set up behind the ball very, very similarly to us (three talls, a host of mediums, no genuine lockdown defender) and if fyfe can ever get back to full fitness they have a similar midfield set-up too

Spot on about Switkowski, was almost a bigger loss than Fyfe.

Can't access the online heraldsun article, which could easily have no substantial information, but the headline suggests Cats and Tigers are the two front runners for Jacob Hopper.

Jack Gunston.

He still has it and is a beautiful set shot, something a lot of our guys aren't! He kicked 5.1 today (4 in the first half) and offers experience and leadership. Maybe even some strategic tips for our underperforming forward line!

I believe he is a free agent as well, so we wouldn't need to trade any picks.

Exactly what we need, would be a great mentor for JVR also….

Have heard a rumour from a good source - A 3 way trade involving Naughton to Demons, Jackson to Freo and Lobbe to the Dogs. Watch this space.

Okay I will hold you to that as I just don't quite believe it.

Very difficult one to believe, Naughton is contracted for another 2 years and is a much better footballer than Lobb.

The entire Melbourne supporter base would be lining up to drive Jacko across the Nullarbor

I just vomited with happiness

something I’ve never done

I really don’t care what anyone thinks - apparently Naughton is unhappy at the dogs and wants a trade. I respect the source so make of it what you will.

He would be perfect. I would even give him half the year off to fix his knee issues.

I’m sure picks from the dockers would be involved as well

When someone ends a trade whisper with this line, you know they mean business. #ETtheTradeWhisperer.

I think you will see from my history that this is not my style. I thought posters would be interested in the rumour but of course it comes with no guarantee except that the source is reliable.

Would be an unbelievable get if it does come to fruition. Don't believe you're one to troll with trade rumours so I'll take you at face value.

Still can't see the dogs letting it happen though.

Well if they know Naughton wants out, it would explain their interest in Lobb

Heard we'll play Petty forward and Naughton in the backline

Now you I am far more suspicious of :laugh:

(Although that was actually the first scenario I though of, was a gun defender in his draft year)

The Dogs would want our 2023 1st as well . And we would probably have to do it or swap for one of their 2nds, to get him out of contract. Unless they Plan on asking for Logue as well. Can't see a club playing hard ball accepting Lobbe, Pick 12-14 x2

Oh fair enough mate, apologies.

I genuinely thought you just threw that out as wishful thinking.

Naughton to Dees is something I would not have expected at all.

I have no idea of your history but thanks for the rumour.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

    The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

    A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

    The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

    Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

    Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
