No wonder thereโ€™s no crowds with these gutter journos supposedly promoting the game.

That's not the reason and you know it. They did not make up this story. MFC players did that all on their own.

Negativity around the game, is definitely one of the contributing factor to small crowds in my opinion.

People ย just get sick of it.

Im not talking about the punch up story specifically as you inferred, because numbers were low before this incidentย

I'm sure the Dees will post it on their YouTube channel at some point during the day. I will post it here when it goes up.

Interesting to note that not a single reporter at that press conference (over zoom) has posted anything to twitter as of the writing of this. I bet you if there was something inflammatory in the presser and not the common sense and matter of factness that Goody spoke then they would have been salivating to post about it.

Exactly ... over 100k members on the back of 3 premierships?ย  Who are the self-satisfied lot?

But we're the scapegoat/whipping boy and it will remain that way

Crowds are down right across the board so the AFL has got a real problem on it's hands

Overall, Simon spoke very well and gave nothing away other than mentioning that the club was handling things and would learn from what had happened

I don't think they care Macca the money is in the media. Spectators going to games are running a bad last. They will make all the right noises but the money speaks loudest.ย

โ€œ๏ปฟGary Pert is a complete man of integrity. Iโ€™ve got no behavioural issues. Gill McLachlan and Richard Goyder do a fantastic job of running our competition.

What was the crowd numbers last night,ย  I can't see any details on either AFL or the Age site?

Ultimately, sparse crowds can effect the numbers viewing on TV

And it could be that those staying away are not staying away for the more obvious reasons (covid, cold weather etc)

The AFL needs to promote the games in terms of people attending the games

21,757 as per an Sen article. Crowd numbers have been suspiciously absent for some games on the AFL website. We got more to our Freo (+8,000) and Sydney games (+11,000). Haven't seen the media go hard on the tiger fans yet though.

Not sure they care.

iirc Gil's salary/bonuses are primarily based on Revenue.ย  Broadcasting and related sponsor revenue dwarf that of attendance.ย

Its a simplistic KPI.ย  I'm sure there are others but not sure game attendance is one or if it is, is a significant KPI.

Any questions about the QB game or talk of MND?ย  Very disappointing if not as that is what the pc was for.

Goody does a presser every Friday to talk about the upcoming game, selection, injuries, etc. Whilst MND big freeze fundraising would've been one of the topics asked about, its not necessarily what the presser was for

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
