Surgery for an infection after 3 days?

No.

Infection after 3 days from hitting a bloke in the mouth and getting a penetrating injury from the teeth.

Absolutely possible and serious if that's what happened.

clarification

Did May have a mark on him in that video he did apologising? Melk probably missed and punched the wall, stuffing up his hand

I'd say this sounds like a plotline from Dumb and Dumber, but I have the feeling that there is more to play out here and that we'll be crowning someone Dumbest of all the Dumb Dumbs by the end of the week.

Another consequence of Steven May’s actions ~

Melksham to miss Round 13

"Another consequence of Steven May’s Melksham's actions "  -  so did May bite his hand?  Surely if one choses to punch and injures your hand it is not the fault of the guy who is hit.

Yep diddnt come out of his corner at the bell for the start of  round 13........

Not sure what part you think is missing. They where drinking, a verbal turned to physical end of story. Feel for the other punters in the restaurant no one should have to be around that behaviour when eating out. Seriously thuggish behaviour all around by adults who should know better. Melksham has small kids at home and here he is drinking and punching a teammate on a Sunday night.

Not only a team mate, but one getting over concussion, from a previous hit to the head. Actually assaulted someone for a verbal barb. Pretty great all round.

I think Jake might have played  his last AFL game for us, considering his last two games and on top of this incident.

Infection can set in rapidly. For a Demons example, I saw Rod Grinter at a party the night he clocked Terry Wallace. His hand was infected & had already swelled up like a soccer ball. It caused Grinter to miss the following week (while Wallace played)

yes but Wallace was a dog

What May said is brutal but in my view not something a reasonably well adjusted adult and father should consider punchworthy. Particularly when that somebody is supposedly a close mate.

Bizarre and I suspect more to it than just that sledge. Hope I am wrong and for now will assume I am.

Agree. Shameful all round. Worse that these are 30 year old supposed leaders, not teenagers!

I don't know what you think May said, but in Gawn's press conference he said that the Grand Final comment in the media was not true.

DeeCving, the problem for me is that it may have been worse.

This is what we have to put up with these days with social media

Club & players have to pull their heads in or not he rumours will start flying

If people are stupid enough to not think this is ridiculous, then that's their problem.

I’ll miss his 5 possessions and zero tackles.

Me too... though at the same time still remember the season he had in 2018 where he became one of our most important and reliable players.  Fell off a cliff after that though or maybe the evolution of our game plan meant there was no longer a role for him.

Maybe he’s a fan of Zidane?

or Alistair Lynch and Carl Ditterich.

Agree. In fact it almost surely was.

But i also take on face value that they've both manned up, admitted they've made major mistakes and have buried the hatchet.

If you've read Max's diary from last year he spent quite a time describing the way the whole club has tried to lift the way they talk to eachother. With more respect and less denigration. He says its still not perfect but it's a lot better, and he referenced that in the press conference today. The whole club has matured, a lot, this is a setback no doubt, but also a teaching moment.

Let's see what they do with it...

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
