Some ripper games this weekend

The dogs to get the better of the the Cats

We'll beat the Swans in a tight tussle

Freo have their tails up after accounting for us last week and will beat the Lions. Suits us better if they do as well

Geelong are going under the radar a little bit.

They have made a few changes to youth and player roles:

  • de Koning is doing a great job at FB which has freed up Tom Stewart who is doing a sterling job as a mid-fielder, rebounder or behind the ball.  Still able to play The General.
  • Stengle is a really damaging small forward.  Great kick i50 and kicks plenty of goals.
  • Holmes is injured but coming on in his second year.
  • They are getting better at switching between their 'control' and their 'territory' game plans.

Scott is doing a lot of experimenting with player positions and ball movement to ready for September.

They will undoubtedly make the top 8 and most probably the top 4 so no harm done if they win this or not.  I'd rather not see the Bulldogs in the top 8.

Feel ill to tip Geelong to win...

It looks like Freo will have a weakened team vs Lions this week with injuries to some key players.

  • Taberner who kicked two goals before being subbed out for half the game
  • Walters who was damaging buzzing around the fwd line
  • Chapman a key tall defender who took 14 marks and gained 436 mtrs.

That game may not give us any clearer picture of the top teams than last week did.

Tonights game will tell us a lot about where the Dogs are in 2022, if they beat the Cats i think it's fair to consider them a finals threat, if they don't maybe not

If Dogs lose tonight, they'll be 6-6 and probably have to go 9-1 in the last 10 games  to finish top 4, and thus have any genuine hope of winning the flag this year. No team has ever snuck into the top 4 with 14 wins.

Even if they win, they'll still have to go 8-2 to make top 4 with Melbourne, Brisbane (away), St Kilda, Fremantle, Sydney (away) and Geelong (away).

I'm ruling out the Dogs to win the 2022 premiership.

Honestly no idea who wins tonight. Danger still out but the dogs are so inconsistent.

Under the roof, I think Cameron and Hawkins will be the difference and the Cats will win

Dogs just don't look mentally switched on this year

Think Geelong have won 14 of the last 17 against the Dogs, thats a fair record.

I hope the Dogs win on the pure basis even though we smashed them last year in the finals Geelong are still a bunch of flogs.

Doggies looking a rabble so far. Little system, poor skills, low energy. It is early in the match so anything can happen, but what happened to their highly celebrated midfield?

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
