Think weid will have a big game tomorrow, I,m more concerned with our ball movement, no Salem and now no Langdon, that’s our first and second kicks in the rebound chain out.

The hint TMac might not come up was selecting him on the bench. I also note petty selected on the bench and was sore last week. Tomlinson is an emergency to cover or is it for team balance as Free plays a very small mobile forward line?

Weid will play his role as he always does.

Playing devils advocate here; Weid has averaged more goals and more tackles than TMac in 2022.

would be great if he could kick 3-4 goals in a quarter

"...Many key forwards have been moved on in less time than Weid has. ..."

Which surely means that those in the inner sanctum have more faith / belief in Sam than do so many here.

You are all a bit hard on Sam he is still very young for a big bloke in footy,it takes most big blokes a while to mature and find their feet in AFL footy.I remember Tom Hawkins being bagged at geelong when was about sams age ,it just takes time

Weed is a no. 1 forward being played as a no. 2. He is not good enough to replace Brown yet, and his game/body type doesn't suit a mobile tall like TMAC. He's also stepped up multiple times this year and had some fine performances.

In 4 years or so we'll be seeing weid at FF and Van Roo at CHF.

The Weed is a confidence player, he will be fine, always provides a contest.

That may be, that’s yet to be seen, and no he doesn’t - that’s one of his problems.

He ball watches, is constantly in the wrong spots, and needs to provide a contest as baseline.

Good luck to him.

He may have been bagged but he did more than Sam. And you wish they had similar trajectories; Tom kicked 62 goals in his 6th year, which would be Sam’s 2021.

https://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/T/Tom_Hawkins1.html

Some think I am bagging him - I feel for him - our lofty expectations are nowhere near where he needs to aim. Chase Tom Hawkins? What? No. You just compete and get to the right spots and make good decisions - let the more talented finish and be a part of the team.

I still go back his disappointment after the Dogs game at Marvel last year, we won, he competed, he did well but he trudged off the ground because he flubbed a few marks and didn’t get his three goals.

It’s not about that anymore, mate. Stop looking for actualisation in ‘kicking your three goals’ find it in being a part of a team that wins and wins well and you do your bit.

EVERYONE will be happier for it.

The real problem I believe is really DOES SAM have as much faith as the inner sanctum do in himself.

Please play him as a third ruck ( on the forward line ) and get him moving around and into the game. He will respond better than if only in the forward pocket or CHF.

Freo is easily the best defence we have come up against (the last 2 weeks aside). It will be fascinating to see how we play. I don't think we can afford to be waste so many inside 50's this week. Lower your eyes and hit targets.

Freo are almost full strength.  How much will we miss Langdon? A lot is my guess. Especially without another proper winger on the other wing. Him, Salem and Harmes are all significant outs as they are all link men and involved in so many scoring chains.  Time for Jordon and the like to really step up.

Demons by 4 points

Jordon has played his best football for the Club in the last 2/3 weeks so really stepping up is a bit rich to ask him after that form.

Far too confusing snd with only initials on the categories it is meaningless.

All I know is Tmac has hit form with 3 and 4 goals in the last 2 games and Sam kicked 6 as did JVR in the romp vs the crisis ridden Kangaroos "2's" whose best was Dom Tyson and Marty Hore. Both were honest players for our Club and injury did them no favours but seriously should they be near or on our list with players like Bowser and potential in Rosman and Laurie learning their craft at Casey?

PS I bet I get a bite from at least ONE D/ler how unlucky Marty was and still should be on our list!
Same as if Dean Kent lovers linger in the past He can't even get a game in the upgraded Saints team now!

Don't we realise that is why we ( and Saints) are potential premiership teams because the replacements are much better footballers than Tyson Hore and Kent. You can throw in about 100/ 150 footballers of similar standard over our 57 years of pain in a similar bracket. Clint Bartrum was a classic example for instance.
Yes better coaching and playing with 6/8 AA may have made some small difference and to be fair I don't believe hardly any of those players left much out on the field either.

At the moment Weid is trying like hell to get out of the "almost class " snd he has improved in 2022 so good luck Sam!

Belief and confidence are your friend.

After 27 disposals recently what more can he do to satisfy you? You are unrealistic expecting all the wingers to be like Gus and Lingers. Jordan is developing nicely and it's not an issue with him his form at all. He defends as well as attack and his disposal is generally high standard as is his courage and attack on the ball.

Perhaps you want 3 goals per game?

2 hours ago, Kent said:

I think 'failed' is more a reflection of your expectations.

But that's beside the point I was making which is I think most of us, yourself included evidently, have made up their minds about where he's at and what he will become by now so judging it on one game seems a bit over the top.
