Disappointing to lose Langdon but great to have Viney back.  I’m thinking Laurie might get the sub vest this week.

Stoked for Bedford getting a full game.

Make no mistake, this will be our hardest game of the year due to a number of premiership players we're missing.

Salem, Langdon, Harmes and Hibberd to a degree are huge outs for us.

Yay Melksy!!!

Banner quandary averted!!!

#SquadLife

GO NARRM!!!!

No surprises at our selection table.  Dunstan the likely medi sub.

Bedford in also

Effectively already in the 22 the after being subbed in last week D11

No surprises here although I do question the inclusion of 1 player but I will leave that alone.

Not sure if he's been in qualifying form but surely Baker has the nod given Lingers is out.  If Melky goes down (someone steps on his small toe....cough) then yipeee for Bakes

Gus on the offensive wing would be interesting

So Melksham's playing his 200th this week. I do agree that he had to be in the 22 rather than the medisub if he was picked. Interesting that they chose not to bring in a replacement for Lingers. Who were our wingers last week after he was subbed out?

2 out 1 in ?

Dumb sub rule even ruins the teams coming out

Baker is not even an emergency, so that won’t happen.  Melksham is also a far better option than Baker

Great to Bedford in the 22. He deserves a run of starts.

Freo’s team looks strong on all lines. Probably the best defence we have come up against. Should be a cracking contest

Wasn't actually saying it would happen... saying it 'should' happen IMV.  In terms of a replacement role for Lingers (wing only) i believe Baker would be an upgrade to Melk.  We'll agree to disagree D11

I think Baker's time is up he is a long way from being selected.

Yes, some things are best left alone.

Unrelated: The Melksy banner looks AMAZING!!!

Good team selections given the injuries and unavailability of some players.

Fills me with confidence when I see Gawn, Petracca, Oliver and Viney named in the engine Room. Add to that the players we can rotate through there such as Jackson, ANB, Sparrow, Pickett and Brayshaw and that is a very strong, deep midfield.

Dunstan as the sub? I think so. I do not think they would name Laurie as sub for his debut but he must be close to selection. Tomlinson and Weideman named in emergencies to cover late outs back and forward.

Dees by 10 goals.

How certain are we that Tmac will play? Look to be favouring a knee late in the game. Not listed in the 18.

For his sake, and ours, I hope the squad entrusted the cutting of the letters to one of our most capable and worthy letter-cutter-outers.

They sure did! And he’s a very nice man, too. 😁
JK. I did most of the Melksy letters. AND they let me cut out the 200! That’s 4 (FOUR!) circles right there! And it’s shiny silver paper, way harder to work with than cardboard. The pressure was on. But I went into full Demons mode and… nailed it!

I wondered the same thing.  He looked ok in the training video but it was only a few seconds.

Also wondered if Petty will start.  iirc he had some treatment on the bench last week and played only 82% game time which is really low for our defenders.  Also not in the starting 18.

Maybe a rare late change coming up.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
