No pressure kid !

His woodwork teacher says Noah works well in a High Pressure System.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high with Noah. Didn’t stand out at school level with Caulfield Grammar, would be a romantic story to have him as a father / son but I think he will be another Kobe Farmer that is not quite good enough for AFL level.

Not to mention Brad Flower! We actually have not had anywhere near the success that other clubs have in this regard!

& from what you’ve seen previously, is that the position he’s earmarked to play?

Well, that's six more than Petty had in the VFL before coming in!

No, but seriously, the kid is just doing the right thing by the club and staying under the radar.

Or maybe it is loading?

At the moment, young Yze is of a size just a little bit too short for a key position and probably not quite fast enough for a midfielder. He’s still young enough to grow and develop his skills and running ability so it’s fantastic that he’s in the elite system at a strong Coates Talent League club along with the benefit of being under the eye of both the Melbourne Football Club and his father which means he has a good chance of getting onto our club’s list if he puts in the work.

Hopefully, he will get the opportunity once or twice this year to show his wares at Casey as Kynan Brown did last year.

My memory is BP left the club early 2012 and went to Carlton. Todd came in and was calling the shots at trade time late 2012. He has to wear the Wines non selection. He knew how good Wines was and knew Toumpas as well. I thought the reason given as to why we went for Toumpas was that we didn’t need 2 in and under bulls. To be fair all the experts were a big wrap for Toumpas but we never saw why that was.

Touumpas was playing senior footy in SANFL, winning a premiership before he was drafted, I believe it was the media and the fans, constantly reminding him he's not as good as wines, the pressure got to the kid

I believe he also had both hips operated on around the time he was drafted and that resulted in him losing a bit of speed.

interesting that yze is relief rucking as quite an undersized option

If he's doing similar work to JVR it might indicate competitiveness and a good leap, good traits to have coming into his draft year

Listed at 190cm and turns 18 tomorrow.

I wonder if he’s gone one more growth spurt in him… 4 or 5 more cm would be perfect.

haha I thought the same thing. Yze was more of a winger who could go forward.

Our Adem was primarily a half-forward, rarely ever a wingman. 234 goals from 271 games

Give him time to grow into his body and develop in the 2’s. Just look at Taj, he didn’t leap out as a contested beast in his draft year either, but he is developing very nicely at Casey and will be a player before too long imo.

Taj has also added some 'in-close' skills with both hand and foot, and does move to receive these days around more central play. Developing nicely, a very strong prospect in the not-too-distant-future ...

Started forward.

Daniher moved him to half back.

Then opposition coaches decided that he was too dangerous and he was moved up the ground again and rotated from deep forward to mid.

I think half forward would’ve been an ok description.

Re Noah. I think he is a bit of a late developer. He wasn’t focused solely on footy for a while there.
The knock on him I heard was about athleticism and hardness. But that was 2 years ago. He may have matured since then.
Like all father-son prospects. I want him to come to us and be successful. But also not cost us much in terms of draft considerations.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
