When the footy is so bad that I'm watching the rugby, you know there's an issue.

What a try!!

I bet more than 1 person though the same thing.  I considered it this afternoon for a bit but didn't change.  Then you didn't expect this level of footy.

yep, its bad alright, instead of going three ahead of the pack below me, I have brought them all to within 1

and yep, the footy is bad too

WC get first goal courtesy from a non push in the back free and second from an unpaid push in the back. Umpires face palm yourselves.

AFL have sure scheduled a couple of doozie blockbusters for Good Friday.  Well done.

Had a giggle when the doggies fan gave a Bronx cheers to the umps when they were paid a free kick late in the game. Must be completely oblivious to the easy run they've had for the last 5+ years.

Yeah I’m married to a dogs supporter as are her whole family (she’s one of 6), they firmly believe they deserved every single one of those frees over the past month and that the differential is just because they are first to the ball 😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣

How are the Eagles players smiling and joking around with each other at 3/4 time? You're down by 51 points and you're laughing it up. There's seemingly a very poor culture at West Coast. I'd be cheesed off if it were Melbourne in that situation, particularly if we'd just had a year like West Coast had.

Must be nice to be a Swans fans. Get a number 1 pick Heeney when you are a top 4 team so you never have to miss finals more than one year in a row

Terrible day for the AFL. I think Good Friday is a free hit in terms of entertainment, and they serve up this garbage.

Heeney is as good as Toby Greene but without the brain fades, and 10x as good as De Goey

Footballers like Heeney and McInerny must pull this hair out playing in that side. Majority of Sydney players just play for themselves. Very poorly coached side to be fair. If they make finals hopefully it’s the fourth spot and we meet them in the first final.

Highlight of the night, Frank Drebin. But a really good recommendation at the end of the clip.

He’s better than Petracca?

Would be very close.  Paul Roos bid Heeney at pick 2 before Petracca.  We would have Petracca as we had pick 3 but not had Brayshaw.

Given that the draft points system didn't exist back then we didn't have to bid Heeney at pick 2 to force Sydney's hand to use a 'high' pick.  Their highest pick was #18 and that is what they used to match our bid #2.  Any first round bid  would have got them Heeney for pick 18.  So I would say Roos rated Heeney very highly at least equal to Petracca.

They are different types of players, both are stars.

Paul Roos knew how good Heeney was from his time at the Academy.  He bid on Heeney at pick 2 before Petracca,.  We would have also got Petracca as we had pick 3 but not had Brayshaw.

I know we bid on Heeney, like we bid on Mills before Oliver but we did it knowing full wel Sydney would still take them.

Heeney is very good, but Petracca is top 2 in the league while Heeney is top 30.

My point was we didn't need to bid him at #2 to force Sydney to pay a high price, as under the draft rules at the time Sydney only had to use pick #18 regardless of when he was bid on in the first round.

The rules were changed after that for a draft points system so bidding on Mills forced Sydney to have sufficient points to pay top price.

I don't think Roos was messing around when he bid #2 on Heeney.

As I said above they are different players but both are stars.

Shows we don't bid on Muppets - both Heeney and Mills are A+ players though we ended up with Petracca and Oliver which was amazing.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
