I'm looking forward to this game. I assume BBB will be playing along with Harrison Petty. I'm particularly keen to see how JVR plays given he was a late out last week.  I don't think the side has been named as yet.

Hope BBB is iced after two quarters.

Why would you ice him after 2 quarters? He won't have played for 2 weeks and Melbourne don't play again until Next Saturday. The Melbourne approach beginning with Darren Burgess and continuing with Selwyn Griffith is all about playing through niggles and encouraging resilience.

Can we safely assume that #56's nickname is "Mr."

And #69 reads to me like he's absent without leave ("AWOL").

As an aside, isn't it great that our Senior players wear their MFC jumper number when playing in the Casey side? It really annoyed me when they didn't .I assumed it symptomatic of the old arrangement which showed that integration between the MFC and Casey Scorpions wasn't smooth sailing.

Still waiting to hear just why he missed last week

Assume both Mitch Brown and Luca Goonan will miss with concussion protocols.

and waiting to hear about the nature of Brown's injury.  Apparently something behind play (predictably covered up by the second rate excuse for a comp, the VFL) - some have said king hit, other say ribs?

Yes, Brown and Goonan both out and it’s all quiet as to what happened to Mitch Brown. Another out from the Round 3 side is Jake Melksham.

It wasn't a king hit, but it was behind the play and not called for

Has Ellison played back previously, I only remember him last year as a promising forward. If he has, has he shown much?

Was a little bit surprised to see Howes named as an emergency for Thursdays game. Be interested to see how he goes on Saturday and if he can really put his name up in the coming weeks.

Been quietly impressed with Laurie so far as a mid/half forward. Think he's got the ability to crack a debut sooner rather than later.

That is one strong VFL side....

That's exactly was i just thinking.

I'm going, so looking forward to seeing some stars in action.

Looking forward to watching this via the afl website. I grew up in ‘Willie’ in the sixties and Saturday afternoons were either spent with dad at the G watching Melbourne or with schoolmates following the Seagulls in the VFA. I was even part of their cheer squad at one point, complete with yellow and blue streamers. Character building - that biting cold wind off the sea and Willie always seeming to lose - but incredibly happy days when I look back.

Certainly should be easy for a strong Demons team tomorrow.

Yes young ‘Wuol’ best keep this swept under the rug. According to a recent report in the local rag an associate of Mac Andrew. Given an earlier ‘sniper’ draft bid at the northern AFL franchise ‘club’ academy.

Still never heard if the bloke who was involved in the Mitch Brown incident was cited

Which begs the question: why is Moniz-Wakefield wearing 29 for Casey? What would happen if Hunt was playing too?

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.

The Demons were sloppy all day and could not stop the run and carry of the fast moving Hawthorn as the Hawks cruised to an easy 36 point win. Is the season over yet?
