Great news. You would think that Adelaide would like to have a dabble at both Sparrow and Petty in the next few years, so keeping them under contract is important.

Well done MFC and thanks Tom Sparrow very important that retain our young Premiership guns.❤️💙

Good signing, he’s one of our most promising youngsters. Sparrow has a lot of potential to be a good midfielder and can also hit the scoreboard or play forward flank if needed. Adelaide are keen on luring him back to SA, so this is a good signing to keep the group stable. Now just need Dogga to extend and our best youngsters are all locked away!

Very happy with Tom signing on - has plenty to offer

Was surprised however his set shot for goal last night as it was such a stinker - had penciled it in as a goal such is the confidence I have in his kicking :)

Two years signals to me he thinks his stocks will rise which is only a good thing for us. Very good news.

Very happy with this news.  Spaz is a good player, with a ton of upside imo.

The only player in the club that can stop Trac (at training) according to Steven May last night.

Great signing.

This is good news. I presume it is 2 years from next year.

It was my birthday yesterday - great present. I love this boy.

Saw a comment from his Mum when drafted. What are some of his attributes, Mum said Loyalty. He's a 200 gamer

The one thing that could stop Melbourne is our lack of attacking midfield depth. I don't even want to say it, but if Trac or Oliver go down (or have a down game), we need someone to be able to pick up where they left off and be damaging offensively. Sparrow has all the tools.

Great signing.

Ability under pressure for someone so young is amazing.

The long goal in the GF with 4 Dogs running at him.

The long kick to Brown following ANB's kick inot space, summing up what Brwon was calling for then doing it.

Match winning actions (some of the many by the team)

Bowey's the same, just has different coloured hair and plays in defence.

Huge fan of Sparrow, and great to see him re-signing. If he can get more development time in the midfield, he could be anything. Strength, confidence, booming kick.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
