POSTGAME: Practice Match vs North Melbourne

Just wondering if Langdon has come off the ground and gone home yet?
The more you watch him the more you marvel, it was hard to see the other side of the ground at times with the drunk camera work today,  but boy he puts the Energizer Bunny to shame.

Hopefully the club gives us an update on Salem and May.
I trust channel 7 reporting as much as I trust Putin.

Edit: May playing cricket tonight on his Insta with the rest of the players. I assume he’s not too badly hurt then 😂

May looks fine to me.

I thought his (Kozzie) tackles and pressure were fantastic.

And his (Kozzie) GF involvements were greatly underrated too.  Many said he had a very quiet game - by his standards maybe NB no goals.

Not a lot of conventional stats but a hell of a lot of pressure acts.

Kozzie had a fantastic GF

His pressure acts around the ground in the First Quarter gave Spargo an easy goal
his shepherd for Tracc to dribble his goal  are 2 examples

i am sure there are more

He played the Team game, not the highlight reel

His defensive pressure was excellent but he was tentative and poor at the contest and didn’t get much ball. He’s so good he only needs to do one or the other to contribute but he certainly wasn’t at his best

During my nightly lullaby rewatching the GF 3rd Qtr last night, I noticed that Kossie tackles the Dogs player, imeediatley before it spilled to Bowey before he chips over the top to Brayshaw who kicks the goal that puts us in front and after which we never looked back and never looked like losing the game.

There's also the fact he should have been paid a free 20m out straight in front in the 3rd for having his head ripped off.

As you said it so eloquently, playing the team game, not the highlights reel.

Kossie was huge in the GF.  Did exactly the sort of stuff that won us the premiership, as did guys like Gus and Viney who busted their guts out, took the hits and kept on comming back for more and more when the chips weren't going our way.

Good hit out obviously. Let's hope Salem is OK.

Of the fringe players Smith was the one that stood out. His vertical leap and ability to spoil are great attributes.

The others: Chandler kicked the two goals but not much involvement. Hunt, Weed and Bedford limited opportunities.

Thought Rivers and Bowey struggled all game. Jordon was unobtrusive but contributed.

Oliver, BBB, Max, Spargo, Langdon all good.

I liked the number of long distance goals we slotted today. Gawn looks very confident with his set shots since his 4 goal demolition of the cats.

There was a moment in the third when we were only a goal up with 3:40 left on the clock and were pushing hard, it was a 2-on-3 in the middle of the ground and Kozzy layed a shepherd for Brown who won the ball easily (thanks to kozzy), on to ANB, to Sparrow, to the goal square where Gawn & TMac spoil each other. Kozzy's game was filled with little moments like these. He played a great pressure game, making space for his team mates and putting the doggies under pressure all day and night.

By far the best thing to come out of today was Tomlinson playing, not getting injured and looking good.

The result means little against the bottom side but always good to win

Yep .... just take the 4 points and move on !!!

On very limited time Sam Weidemann’s cameo performance showed some promise ‘again’. Fingers crossed the stars align and the young fella finally gets a decent run at it this season. Ditto SOS.

Great timing for me to be stuck at home with Covid this week. Too sick to be at work, well enough to watch the game and enjoy the spectacle. Great to see Brown dominate in the air, Hibbo was great in defence and Smith was very good. Might be just a practice match but I’m still getting used to watching us play with a smile on my face, knowing just how good we are.

Why?

He played the lever/petty role today  role today and had a better game than Tomlinson l

Because it's Tomlinson's spot to lose, Tomlinson is a better footballer than Smith and if Tomlinson isn't an automatic replacement with Petty out I'd question what his role is in the team.

Now that's how a top side treats a bottom side.
Stroll in the park for the reigning premiers.

Yep hopefully we start becoming that ruthless during the season. Create the gap before halftime and put the foot down in the 3rd to snuff it out.

Having said that we were playing a bunch of scrubs yesterday - I was surprised to see Josh Walker out there I legit thought he retired about 7 years ago.

Here’s hoping you get better real soon.💕

You’ve got 19 days to be up and at ‘em, be it at the ground, or watching on T.V. 🙂

I was very surprised our extended interchange guys got so little time on the ground. Why have an extended bench if you are not going to use them? Given the level of opposition today, it seemed to me the perfect time to give good game time to the likes of Hunt, Weid, etc. Maybe the mantra this year is that if you want to play in the 22 you are really going to have to earn it.

So was I !

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
