So we're flying out of the mudhole that is northern NSW for the game. We're looking forward to taking a break after the last two weeks.

We've got our barcodes for GA but no seat allocation by the looks.

There's no way to book your seats by the looks. Just rock up and grab a set anywhere in GA. Is that how it works?

I was wondering what happens if it's a sell out?

I posted this in the game day thread as well, but here are the general admission areas. Get in nice an early and head straight for M5-M7 imo.

Great Southern Stand
M5-M7
Q1-Q12
Q13-Q15 1/2 (rows K-DD)

Ponsford Stand
M28-M32
Q28-Q36

Olympic Stand
Q49-Q52 (rows T-MM)
Q53-55 (rows K-MM)

Great info, thanks..

Are they just for the Bulldogs game or for all our home games (blockbusters excluded).

Just for bulldogs game, they are on mcg website and put up about 5 days before any game.

The whole ticket/barcode thing worked pretty easily for me and I've just copied the bar code across to Google Pay just in case there's a mobile internet issue at game time.

However, one thing that had me a bit confused was how I could access the  2 additional GA tickets I have available as part of my membershp (I'm going with my brother who's not a member). Just to save others in the same position making a call to the Club, I'm advised that the bar codes for the 2 tickets will be up on the app on Wednesday. According to the girl I spoke to, the AFL is  responsible for that particularly delay.

Very unlikely to be sold out.  GA members can sit in any unreserved area (which is likely to be in the upper seats).  (Edit:  for the GA unreserved areas not in the rafters see @FearTheBeard's post a few down from this one).

GA members can upgrade and get a reserved seat via ticketek for a small fee $11 to $21 depending on area.

This can be done via Ticketek website or the mfc app.

Tip 1:  Ticketek will ask for a membership barcode number(s) which can be found in the 'Ticket Details' section of your mfc app.

Tip 2:  Ticketek has a time limit before shutting you out so have all the info ready before starting.

Thanks @Lucifers Heroand @Fear the beard tried through my mobile and the options were greyed out but options were there via ticketek website once I put our bar codes in. Bloody hell it's a horrible site with the timeouts and also errors when trying to select melbourne supporters allocation I'd get errors as well.
Anyways, got the reserved seats now as we've got obligations to catch up with family before the game.
Thanks heaps and Go Dees! Can't wait to be at a packed out G

After much ado, I finally downloaded my ticket.

I will share the "ado" as it may help others.

Firstly, I discovered I didn't have the latest version of the app on my iPhone - easily fixed.

Secondly, and not unusually for me, I had lost my MFC password. I went to the "forgot password" option but with no result or change. After a number of attempts, I rang the membership dept. - they are open today.

It seems I was one of many experiencing this very problem ( a glitch in this system apparently).

The very helpful fellow at MFC then enabled the password change from his end and all is now well.

Moral to the story. If you are experiencing the change password problem, you are not an [censored] but yet another victim of technology.

So to avoid being a victim of technology we should have the membership cards instead of this phone rubbish. The ticketing system is a pathetic fiasco.

MCC sold out.  Now selling tickets in the Ponsford....Q36

Anyone know when tickets for the ANZAC Eve game go on sale?

There will be no going back the AFL are welded to the ticketing companies.

Anyone know the best area to sit at Metricon? Or alternatively is there a specific area that Queensland demon members may sit etc.

".......

6      Richmond v Melbourne Sunday April 24, 7.25pm AEST

   Tuesday April 5, 9.00am AEST*

*Matches, game times and on-sale dates are subject to change......."

The above is cut from the MCC website.  Tickets on sale from 9.00am Tuesday 5th April.

These ticket selling times are for Rounds 6,7,8 and 9 according to the site.

Not sure about club members but AFL members have the option to request a physical card. Just have to submit an online form.

The integration between the app and Ticketmaster accounts is criminally bad

I had to do 5 password resets on each account to get them synced

someone should be facing the firing squad for this travesty

Is it any wonder Gil didnt get his record opening round crowd total!

Think i'll be calling the club shortly pretending i'm old Siddy boy with no mobile phone and get an analogue entry membership card (or whatever it is)

Myself and about a dozen friends are travelling up. Away supporters generally occupy the outer or River end. There's a nice open bar there (or there was). Plenty of seating. I doubt the crowd will be more than 16k-18k.

Its worth acknowledging there were no problems getting into the G with a digital pass.  No queues, no fuss.

There was a regular announcement saying there was a club window open between gate 3 and 4 to help people access their barcode, before joining the queue to enter.

no problem with moving to digital but how could it be thought it was a good idea to introduce at the same time as you are trying to overcome covid hesitancy.

Interesting to see level 4 of the AFL members closed for our Bulldogs game. Another smart move !

I noticed that.  I assumed there aren't many AFL bulldog and demon members and the 'neutrals' didn't turn up.

The AFL made a few false moves: closed car parks, didn't make clear the ticket options (apparently it was possible to buy tickets at the ground) probably to boost Ticketek profits, and the MCG changed the caterers who saw fit to close some of the bars because of staff shortages.

Also it would be good if they stopped announcing crowd numbers as that would put people off rocking up for a game via public transport.  The AFL usually overestimate the numbers because they aren't really based on ticket sales.  They estimate how many MCC, Club and AFL members with annual memberships will attend.  They guessed badly for our game as it looked like few bulldog and AFL members turned up.

A question about ANZAC Eve tickets.

Does anyone know if we get to buy tickets at the same time as Richmond members (it is their Home game) or do we have to wait until sales are open to the public?

I've tried ringing the club but just get a recording to leave a message.

I think it's best to buy your ticket prior to the night.

Tickets are available from Ticketek. $30 General admission (download to your phone).

I assume tickets will be the same price on the night although some stadiums (SCG, GABBA) have been known to pull stunts such as putting signs up 'No General Admission' on the night.

I've had to pay $45 at both venues despite there being ample GA space.

I tried to buy a ticket now, but seems none available, maybe we have to wait till tomorrow?

Have you brought yours?

River end, is that a GA area?

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
