They'll probably win it

I Agree. They Will win the minor premiership (I assume thats what you mean).

Because the Dees best, the Tiges best, the Blues best (with full defensive unit) and even Freo will address the Cats weaknesses in the finals on a larger ground.

Again.

Dees were within a goal with 10 minutes to play and with poor performances and structure .  The Lions win tells me we still have it, just that its got to come together perfectly.

And Hawkins/Cameron can be managed.

1990 Darren Millane.  Played the last month of the season with it.  Every game he re broke it. Plastered it up during the week, played the next game with it strapped up.  Never been a fan of anything black and white but that was the most amazing thing I've ever seen.  He was still marking the ball and playing incredible footy.  Was a huge reason they broke the 32 year drought.  Oliver has Millane - like courage.

Broken sounds bad but maybe  hairline which I suspect given they plan to miss 1 week with him.

Time for a magic glove.  Jimmy played with a broken hand.  Surely a thumb is not that important 😉

Incorrect Spirit, a broken thumb is the worse of any of the digit breaks and I should know as I have had two of them. Your thumb is pivotal to grasping ,hance the inconvenience and pain.

The thumb is critical for a player like Oliver as he handballs so much and for 'touch' for his many possessions.

But then, an 80% Oliver is far better than not having him play at all.

He is tough and he won't even flinch as long as opp players don't target his hand.

He will just have to kick more than handball.

Hey picket. My comment was tongue in cheek hence the winking emoji.  Yes I agree and think he’ll probably miss at least the NT game v Port 😭

There’s a thought … he’s usually a 30% kick player (70% handballs) due to his close contested footy game. But would love to see him ultimately kick a helluva lot more

… as sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

I can’t stand Selwood but anyone who thinks this is deliberate is clearly delusional. It was a footy act. Stupid and careless yes, and the free was paid.

If we play them again, then we will remember.

Your reasoning seems a tad contradictory but when I played footy there was very little kicking but a bit of fighting . I think in hindsight  I have seen said player do similar things before.

What's worse,  kicking like you have done/ did before or scratching your opponents eyes out. Different opponent and different culprit  hmm. What would the winger/ mouth be saying. AFL do something. You can bet on it.

Instead the nose would have gone in and thanked the maggots and especially  No23.

I think Clarry will be fine if he keeps off his thumb for a week or so and avoids all hitch-hiking.

He can hitch with the other hand you know.

So just another player with a broken bone after we played Geelong

This.

What a pack of dirty barstads

If he loses by 1 vote there will be outrage! If a kicking in danger free was paid, why wouldnt the match review panel charge Selwood with reckless and negligent conduct causing injury? Clarry misses a week, so too should Selwood.😡

You weren't the caller to SEN yesterday afternoon that Derwayne Russell cut off after they suggested exactly that, Picket? 😁

[censored] I HATE the pussie cats as it seems nearly every time will play those [censored] wits we end up with an injured player such as Mayx2, Viney, Oliver etc and of course it’s always ACCIDENTALL which is bull [censored]

I HATE THE [censored]  wits AND HOPE WE BEAT THEM IN THE FINALS. If we meet them again.

GOD I HATE THEM.

.... and also pivotal to hand balling (unless you play for Footscray or Geelong when you just throw it)

Which hand was injured?

Are you saying that in respect of the GFC, notwithstanding  they have redeeming features - nevertheless , overall, in consideration, in your mind, the negatives outweigh the positives ?

A coincidence that Duckwood just happened to break a bone of the best player in the league? Of course it’s not.

Cats are the experts at making malicious acts look like accidents.

Yep, they always just happen to accidentally injure our best players.

Pretty sure Brad Miller wasn't reported when old mate Tom Lonergan had his kidney removed! :mahoney2:

Would LURVE the club to come out and say, surgery went extremely well and is a chance to play next Sunday! Anyone heard anything??

He'll play

I can only remember when Stephen King decided to have a leg swipe in a ruck contest against Jeff White.  Result?  Jeff White has metal plates put in his face.  Tom Hawkins throws an errant elbow and breaks Maysie's eye socket.  Last year, Hawkins again pushes Maysie in the back and his hammy goes.

......And now this with Clarrie.  Where is the duty of care?

....

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
