Is it just me and my phone, or do other people find that Kayo just stops operating randomly and incredibly annoyingly? As in, watching a replay, it just freezes and will not move. Is there any way to prevent this?

I've never really had any dramas on my Android phone or Chromecast dongle I us with my TV.  Since I'm having issue with my Chromecast remote not pairing at the moment, I cast directly to the TV from my phone and that works fine also.

My only minor gripe with Kayo is I sometimes find it's to easy to accidentally escape out of the program your watching, but it doesn't remember to resume where you left off, but asides from that I find its brilliant.

I never really have that problem but my mum and brother do. Might just be the servers you connect to or the congestion on the internet in your area?

Usually pausing for a couple of minutes to let it buffer will fix it.

You sound much more technically aware than I am. But I have an iPhone.

Do you use the phones 4G/5G or your home wifi? If it's the home wifi there could be interference with the wifi signal. If you have 2.4ghz and 5ghz options for your home wifi try the 5ghz one as it usually has less interference from home appliances such as microwaves etc

Yeah, I get the same problem on occasion on my iPhone app. I usually just note the time in the replay and restart the app and then fast forward back to where I was and things are fine.

Since the app turned up natively on my LG TV I haven’t had the same problem. Not sure if that is just luck or indicates there is a bug in the iPhone version of the app.

I have close to 100% reliability with Kayo on a Sony Bravia Google TV connected to 7Mbps ADSL. Even in HD!

A Samsung phone on the same ADSL is also good, but if I use mobile broadband instead it buffers some of the time from evening congestion. Some evenings my mobile broadband tests at 3Mbps. ☹️

I also had a few problems with Kayo when I used a Chromecast, but ditched it when I bought the Google TV.

It’s not bad, could always use improvements performance wise but usually pretty good.

Responsible for much swearing at my place.

The most annoying feature of kayo is when you join the telecast after it has started (usually out doing kids stuff) and it puts the bloody score at the top of the screen.  I have to block that part of the screen with my hand so I don't see it.  Does the same with the big bash games.

Otherwise best thing for me in WA, can see every game on the big tv and not have to pay for all that other Foxtel crap.

Live sport buffering works on a completely different model to general video streaming which can buffer say two minutes worth of video if not more as you watch the show.

Kayo seemed to buffer about 30 seconds worth and thus you will see every short dop out as your wireless signal goes up and down in strength. If the stream has been adeqately buffered you should have no problem. At home the signal will be relatively constant and thus no issue but on the move it's a different story.

When it comes to replays I'm not sure how much they buffer but in theory it could be more like normal video streaming.

It's not so much the speed of your connection as Kayo only requires around 8-13Mbs to deliver quality video but rather the consistency of the flow. Try sitting the phone down on a desk or table where the signal should be constant and see if you still have the same problem.

Another trick as others have suggested is to allow the video to run for say five minutes and then move the cursor back to the beginning. In this way you are providing your own buffering.

I had big troubles buffering etc with Kayo when using the old ADSL lines but once the NBN arrived it's been perfect.

Good luck

There is a setting to take off the score you're talking about. 👍

Trying to help out my old man, who has just reactivated Kayo and is getting Error Code 3007.  Contacted Kayo several times and apparently they haven't been very helpful.

Anyone got an tips/tricks?

As a related issue, it's bloody pathetic that channel 7 appears to be showing the Port Hawthorn game in preference to ours.  Got the premership and an attractive brand of footy, but seems the free to air networks still don't give us any love or respect.

Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app Balls?

How long since he last used it, is it possible the app need an update to latest version?

what device is he using it on?

It's more about GC than Melbourne. We are on channel 7 for 5 of the first 6 weeks so one can't really complain there.

The Suns did not have an ounce of respect in the industry coming into the season and were accordingly given 0 FTA games in the first fully scheduled 9 weeks of the season.

If the networks chose their games on a weekly basis, the GC V Dees games would've been channel 7 I reckon given GC won last week and have some positive press about them.

And lastly, Fox Footy show more games than channel 7 each week, so it's inevitable that we'll be on Fox Footy from time to time.

I was watching the cricket last night and it started just randomly going to earlier in the day's play.

So frustrating having to keep exit and go to 'watch live'.

Watching on a phone I rarely have any issues staying in one place, but if I'm walking outside it will often pause and put up the 'something's gone wrong' message.

Probably a safety message to stop you walking into traffic.

Finally, my opportunity to go on a forum and complain about the nanny state.

Hoping anyone out there knows, just got back from some time away and went to catch up on the footy I missed. When I went to watch the Casey games they are gone.

Has Kayo lost the VFL? There is a local footy link, but it is Sydney games and I am in Brisbane.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
